That terribly burnt taste...

... What exactly goes on inside a cartomizer that causes it to have that irreversible unbearable atrociously awful burnt taste? I have been having fits over these cartos trying to figure out a way to prevent that from happening. Just when I think i have it pegged.. I try it on a fresh cart only for it to go burnt after a day and my hopes are dashed and I'm back to square 1. I get nearly 2 weeks out of a carto.. then I have 2 or 3 that go burnt after less than 24 hours.

So in short, my question is: What happens inside a cartomizer that causes that burnt taste?

What kind/brand of cartos and what method are you using to fill them?

I'm using Boge 3 ohm cartos and I prefill by dripping and then doin gthe thermometer shake until its completely filled, then I double punch it on each side at the lowest point I can inside my phiniac tank.

There are some 'bad' batches of Boges floating around. Did the cartos come with two seals the same size? If so, then those are very spotty. PBusardo has a couple of videos out there discussing it. I would try the carto seal fill method and then top it off before punching the holes. May work better. Boge decided to make a design change which kind of backfired, and one of the changes was a change of filler material.

Though it should be said that Boge claims there were no changes. I have the same issue on my regular and XL 3 ohm Boges. Some are great and last 3 weeks others taste like metallic trash right out of the gate which is more often than not.

What exactly is it that happens though? what gets fouled up inside the inards of a carto that is giving off such a horrible burnt taste? Is it the wire? the center tube? the polyfil?

i think the heating wire inside is burning the polyfill material. When it is wet enough, it is much less likely to burn it. That is why once it is burnt, there really is no way to fix it. The material is burnt and is going to stay burnt. Also probably melts some material right on to the coil.

how can boge say no changes were made, yet every other user is reporting significant flavor changes? a boge user knows (as does anyone else that continually uses the same carto/atty/clearo) how their juice should taste like...obviously they are blowing smoke up our backsides. how can they not forecast this backfire? confuse/blame the user, its not our fault...no changes were made.
