Just thought I would post my opinion as I now own both and have spent a better part of a week with both of them.

I have found very few differences in performance between the two of them. There are some cart fills that I sway towards one then another cart fill and I sway back to the other.. Its a very close match up.. they are both very great e-cigs...

The only thing that I can say for certain is that the "auto" 901 batteries seem to last quite a bit longer than the 510s... I have 4 901 Autos and 8 510 manual batteries.. And not one of the 510s come close to the fully charged lifespan of an auto 901.

This is interesting to me as from what I had read before and in part what compelled me to buy 510s is that the battery life was "supposed" to be longer with the manuals. But I am finding it to be the opposite. It may be also that I like to take really long hits for huge clouds of vape too (LOL) but in any case, I am extremely happy with both of them and very glad that I have both to choose from.

I also got some manual batteries for the 901 however I did not receive the adapters that allow me to use them. So I am still waiting on them to arrive. As I "suspect" that the 901s will edge out the 510s with manual batteries due to the "seemingly" longer battery life and also the slightly better atomizer... But honestly, we are splitting hairs here.. they are so close to being "perfect".. (the both of them)....

I dont think anyone could be disappointed with either.

Cheers and hope this helps.

Thanks for posting your review. I’m waiting for the 510 I ordered to show up so I can retire the Smoking Anywhere 3.0 thing that I am currently using. I’m not sure what model these are but I suspect it is greatly inferior to the 510. In fact, in my research it was hard to find a negative post about the 510 that couldn’t be contributed to just newness or the user’s possible unfamiliarity with the hobby. I can’t wait.. I feel like a kid that ordered something way cool off of a cereal box..

Woooo!

Thanks Hawst, I myself started on the 901 (which I do love and works very well for me). I just ordered a 510 manual, I am very excited to check it out! I wanted to ask... How does the vaper production compare between the 2?? I think the 901 has pretty damn good vapor. I actually had the good fortune of trying out the Janty and a prodegy, and both produced much more vapor then my 901 (we all know why). However, I heard that the 510 has a good bit more vapor production then the 901. Whats your take?

I have the manual 901 batteries. They are better than the auto but for one stupid thing. They have a cut off. The LED flashes orange every time I use it longer than 5 seconds. What's the point of having a manual switch if it has a 5 second cut off? It's stupid. It does work better than the auto but not as good as the 510. If it didn't have a cut off I think it would out do the 510.

Nice to hear. I have the 510 and love it. I actually like the auto battery. Of course I can't find them to order now!!!

BUT, I ordered the 910 in pink for flying. I figure, most people won't notice a pink "pen" if I stick it in my mouth occasionally, and the slightly less vapor works well for that too.

Glad to hear I made the right choice for a second e-cig.

I already had a 510, which I bought for the vapor. Ihad heard that the 901 had better flavor, so I thought I'd get one to see.

Both are manual batteries. S far, I can't tell the difference in flavor, but I do think the 510 has superior vapor. The 901 seems to have slightly longer battery life and uses less juice. I've noticed that when I'm really vaping heavy, the 510 goes through liquid like a demon.

But, who cares? Juice is relatively cheap, and the vapor is worth it for me. So now, my primary vape is the 510, and the 901 is my backup. Also my loaner for friends who want to "try before they buy".

So..Houdini:

I gave up on the 901's (except for the Screwdriver with 901 atty) a long time ago. It was that darn battery cut off, and the fouling of the battery from dripping. Are all of the new manual 901 batteries comming with that same irritating cut off. (Hope to god they are not going through that cleaning cycle too). What do you think is the point of making a 901 manual if they are doing the same cut off as before? The Dura-C, (and the rest) with manual batteries don't do that cut off. That is just one of the reasons I love them. Interested in your take on it all?

Add/Edit: Of course there would be other's saying how much longer they are lasting with that cut off. They are not able to vape to their hearts content because of the cut off. The cut off obviously would save battery time, and flustrate just the same as before.

I'm guessing that you misunderstood something along the way. Perhaps you thought someone was talking about the 510 when they were talking about 'mods'. I've never seen anyone praise the 510 batteries over that of others. I have said that one can get better life from not hanging on the button but it's just a fact that because there's no cut off and it is easy to start, the batteries on the 510 are not what certain others are. The trick with the 510 is to have three batteries in the rotation per ecig.

And with the the additions of manuals to 801s and 901s along with the sealed batteries (another plus for the 510) you'll likely to see the gap between the 510 and the other two close rapidly. It's the nature of 'manual' and how humans will use it. :)

That said, my favorite vape is the 801(and others) based Janty Stick. That has nothing to do with the battery (because it uses another type) and all to do with the huge cartridge... and the comfort of the JS in the hand.

I've been using my 510 as my main vape for the past month. I still use my SE3.0 though, almost daily. I think it is more flavorful, especially with PG liquids. I really like both of them.

Well, the only reason I got a couple of these 901 manual batts was to see if they could make a 901 as good as a 510. Before I got them I pretty much gave up on the 901 except for my Screwdriver too. What's the point of making it with a cut off? I have no idea. I think it defeats the whole purpose. Comparing the 901 with manual batt and the 510 the 510 still wins. The 901 does last longer but I don't get the same throat hit as I do with the 510 so I basically don't care how long it lasts.

Houdini....I agree..I would sacrafice battery life for throat-hit any time.I have no intention of purchasing a manual 901(or 801 for that matter) if I'm not in control of the cut-off...I do have both manual passthroughs which happen to do the same thing(with the 801 having a shorter cut-off than the 901).I'll stick with the 510 and be in control of my own length of hit.Really a shame they couldn't get it right as they did with the 510...Seemed to be a promising new product! At least I still have my Mods for the 901 and 801!:)The Wiz!
