I don't think so Imeo, although when it is stuck, that is kind of what it seems like. When it jams up it feels like there is no spring in it all. I have tried several different springs tho and they all do the same thing. I am going to try the magnets River is sending me and will keep an eye out for a replacement button.
its a button's problem for sure Rat. The only I can think is that spring stucks inside the button's case because case is faulty.
I know the feeling completely. I dropped my GGTS in the parking lot getting out of my truck once. Was the worst 30ish minutes trying to find it. Now I keep it in a gaudy looking lanyard but I will never have this issue again.
it says it need an antenna, i would buy 10 of these for sure but i think a ggts would look funky whit an antenna hahaha
I decided on writing on a piece of paper, my name, address, phone number, and that I'll offer a reward if returned, and then rolling it up and placing it around my batteries in the telescope. That way, if I ever really do lose my precious GG, When someone finds it, they'll definitely find my info and I'll have a chance for it to be returned. 
i left my ProVari in a truck stop shower and drove 4 miles away when i had that oh zits moment and freaked.......drove like a mad man back and got lucky as they hadn't cleaned the shower yet.......since then my big toys don't go outside and if they do they don't leave my hand.......period
