Where's all my 'ole timers at that remember when vaping was truly a sight to be seen? :D

HH357 Atomizer coming in at 1.9ohms with a drip shield & Bull Box mods drip tip.

The weather outside is nasty so I was sitting inside digging through the box of vape memories. It brings a tear to my eye y'all.

Happy New Year!

Hey now.. I had and loved the VP-PT.... It was as long as a baseball bat and needed to be plugged into a wall outlet! Came with a stand and like a 5ft cord! LOL

But hey you could get wild and crazy and vape at 5V with it.....

Not my video but got a kick out of watching it....

And to think that the first year or two I vaped 510's, then the eGo. One was basically a tiny dripper and the other used a cartridge that reminded me of a fountain pen ink cart. They got me off cigarettes and later on introduced me to higher tech as the market grew and flourished.

That said, I'd hate to return to the early days! I ran across the 510 and eGo in a shoebox in my closet. I still have some unopened atomizer carts and some blue foam and Fluval.

So far this thread has turned into exactly what I was hoping for.

Also on a semi side note. The Therion DNA75 is still my daily. I'll stop using it when it stops working.

It was aimed more at that nice, mid power device, being used to light a carto... ;)

Love my DIY DNA75 and my Brass DNA200!!!

My first ecig was the same LOL

The year is 2010.
  1. Remove rear cart assembly
  2. Remove inner wick pellet
  3. Drip 2 to 3 drops of juice on pellet and reinsert rear assembly
  4. Take a pull and get mouthful of 24mg juice, no vapor
  5. Take another pull and hit 30 second cool-down 'safety feature'. No vapor
  6. Take another pull and get a tiny wisp of vapor.
  7. Curse a lot
  8. Rinse and repeat....
I assure you this is not an exaggeration, in fact I'm ironing over just how appalling it was.

I was so determined to not smoke I stuck doggedly to this system for over a year before getting one of these

In black not pink BTW. Driven by an eGO, topped with a tank of sorts. Flood city and very little vapor, but a whole world of difference from the last system.

Then this, a dual coil cartomizer system still atop an eGo. More vapor and occasionally a hit that hit the spot with that creamy lung hit satisfaction. There was hope at last. Need more airfow...

2013
Then I discovered these little bad boys. Mini cartomizers that sat in a tank, the best of both worlds. More vapor, more happy. I stuck with this system for at least a couple of years (2013) despite not understanding the relationship between VG and PG and and burning them out regularly using pure VG. By this point variable voltage eGos were available selectable between 3.3 and 4.2 volts. Do me a favour mate, 4.2 volts is not enough, no no no, not nearly enough are you freaking joking? And why are the airflow holes so bloody small?

October 2014, an evolution. The V-Scope system.
Variable voltage using an 18650 (Samsung 26F ICR 5amp CDR). Topped with a proper tank with replaceable atomizer heads and wait for it.... adjustable airflow via a little screw ooooohhhh. Maximum voltage, airflow wide open, actual plumes of vapor. The happiness cannot be described. It felt like holding a police flash-light compared to an eGo but happy days happy days.
Still not enough power, and still not enough airflow, onwards and upwards.

2015
Then I saw this video. Oh my word, what are those batteries they're using, what is an RDA? The plumes, oh my word the plumes. Bought a Plume Veil RDA some wire and cotton and a Stingray X mech mod and an Efest Purple 18650. The vapor quantity and the happiness levels rocketed. Then I shorted the battery and nearly burnt by house down. This lead to my first post of ECF (2017) and the subsequent expansion of my knowledge of all things vaping and battery safety related.

Now I have abandoned mechanicals completely and I'm using either a TFV8 atop the Noisy Cricket 2-25. Or one of the many Velocity Mini clones I have atop either a Wismec RX Gen 3 or my Axis Vapes M-17.

It's been a hard journey. Bad tech sucks, but the journey to a great vape has been well worth it.

Every time I see that deck all I can think of is a power substation.

Same here, I wonder what people do with it. Say if you DO one of their 8 coil setups like they "recommend".... So much cotton, so much juice, and it's a dripper. You have to dump an entire 30ml bottle in for all the cotton you need to wick this thing. 52.8mm, it overhangs by 10mm on a Hammer of God mod (a quad 20700 battery mod for those who are not familiar).

It was the Fogger V2 on a Nemi clone that taught me I could quit with vaping. I never did find MTL satisfying, and that's the first tank I ever found that breathed freely enough to approach satisfaction. (Yes, 18350).
