Ok. So now I am a bit upset. You advertised the BB as working with both 14500 and CR2 when you started this thread.

WTF? I spent over 48 hours trying to decide what batt mod to buy and I got the BB specifically so I could vape at 3.7v, 5v with PT, and 6V. You have ruined my childhood.

Uh simple answer would be: Using unprotected batteries, from a liability stand point is a huge No-No.

So if you want to risk it, that's up to you.

Thus the whole it's a use at your own risk. There are LIFEP04 CR2's out there, Have a few friends on the prowl for higher mAh LIFEP04 CR2's though

Wait, now I'm confused. It is possible to vape at 6v, using CR2 Batteries...but as the majority of CR2's are unprotected I can't recommend using those batteries. As I said, if you can get LIFEP04 Batteries CR2...then vape away.

Seriously? It says right on their site not to use unprotected batteries. And you shouldn't. They are just covering their ... in the event of someone being stupid and blaming them for not warning them.

Didn't Renderwerks use normal ordinary CR2's in his review? they seemed to work for him and I'm sure he didn't sit there and constantly take hit after hit to deplete them in a dangerous manner....hence the "use at your own risk" I knew that going in and still plan to vape my BB at 6V!

I understand now. So, what makes a battery protected? Is it wrapped? Maybe I can use heat shrink on the CR2's for the same effect a protected battery would provide?

How long would 280mah last? What is the equation to convert mah to real hours?

Check out: "Protected CR2's. Do they exist?" thread under Altsmoke, this should answer many of your questions. But to save you from a lil bt of digging to answer your questions, here it goes: Protected batts have a circuit that keeps the battery within limits (2.4-3.0V) to avoid overheating that causes malting & potentially explosion. LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries have a safer chemistry that makes overheating (or sketch factor as I call it) nullified- yet they don't have the circuit that protected batts have, but there's no need as they are safe without it. So, 'protected' & 'LiFePO4' batteries are BOTH safe & keep ya free from sketch! To the bast of my knowledge rcr2's don't come in protected, but if our lucky you can find them as LiFePO4. There's a lot of info out there if ya just dig a little, just google it or something... & for the record, from the absolute get go, well before the BB was ever even up on altsmoke's site it was made apparent that not using protected or LiFePO4 batts is shady, you just overlooked it.

I only just realized the PT was available & it's already out of stock!!! WTF, I'm just a lil late on that one I suppose. Hopefully they'll be re-stocked soon & I'll have to check regularly.8-o

Well since there was a misprint by this company regarding the 800mAh batteries & as it turned out they're NOT LiFePO4's & even though they DO ACTUALLY have LiFePO4's in last night (as I was just told by the company's spokesman), they don't have a charger for these 'safer' batteries yet, just for the sketch ones with the higher mAh.
However, these LiFePO4's the're at least 350mAh & that's a bit better than the 280mAh ones listed elsewhere... so far the best bet found as far as I am aware. Free shipping too is always good & even though $10 for 2 batteries seems a bit steep, but it ain't gunna stop me, & once they get the LiFePO4 RCR2 charger in i'll likely be $10 too, making it actually $10 cheaper than the other option many were pursuing at 280mAh. So it's still a good deal, but wont actually work until they get the appropriate charger in stock to support it.

Anyone know if there's a way to modify a LiFePO4 RCR123a charger to fit RCR2's?... magnets or something?

I believe that the LIFEP04 require a certain type of charger, don't quote me on that. My one charger will charge RCR123A's and I believe there was a special note NOT to use the lifep04's in that charger on the website I purchased my 123a LIFEP04's at.
