Hi Rob,

What are e-cigarettes?
Regards,

XXXX XXXXX
Re-Elect XXXX XXXX, Candidate
Conservative Party of Canada

Sorry I had to edit out who it was, I would like to protect the privacy of where I live.

It’s scary to think this question came from a MP of the governing party, responsible for HC and voting in favor of bill C-36!

The next sad fact is, this is the only response I got from all 3 candidates.

At least he's honest and didn't bs you and try to pretend to be knowledgeable... Tell him.

Tell him what? He should do his job? He should be aware of current issue when they pertain to the policies of government agencies under his control?

Or the big one, he shouldn't vote in favor of bill where he has no understanding what the scope of that bill covers?

I don't think admitting ignorance is an acceptable excuse, its certainly not for us suppliers under bill C-36.

It is a lost cause with this guy.. But he's just a puppet anyhow, which begs the question, Why vote?

It’s discouraging, but maybe he hasn’t seen The Tourist yet. But seriously, it’s not like “e-cigs” are ever discussed in parliament. There’s no discussion anywhere aside from this forum. That’s why we need to email our MPs. To discuss it with them and to educate them. Don’t be so negative. Who knows, maybe after a quick reply you’ll have him riled up and he’ll buy one himself!

You can’t honestly expect every MP to know about every single issue affecting Canada. I bet he doesn’t even know Ricky from Trailer Park Boys is in Hobo With a Shotgun.

i'm with concat....

what is up front and obvious to us isn't neccessarily upfront and obvious to everyone... i personally would cut the guy slack, go in and as one other person said on the forums... make a friend out of this guy... tell him your personal story, tell him what you feel and tell him what HC is doing and how it is illegal...

Sorry Jay, but this guy is beyond hope. He just shot down the little credit you gave him with "atleast he was honest" with his response to my response.

I fired back;

It's an electronic alternative to smoking.

Notice that no where in that did I expand on what an e-cigarette was, other than an electronic smoking device.

Response;

>I am aware of those cigarettes, but wasn't aware of their name.
>I appologize.
>What is your mailing address?

Yes, confusion with the f-cigarette, or only knowing them by their latin name "cigarettus-smokus-electronicus" happens all the time..

I'll get right on sending them my adress, and while I'm at it, send Map Quest dirrections to HC.

And sorry, zero slack to be cut here.

If you want to make laws that cover everything including the kitchen sink (literally) then you better darn well know how it applies to everything including the kitchen sink. If you don't you have no reason to be making the law.

But come on, how hard is it to Google e-cigarette before you respond? He's going to take my word for everything, and form an opinion based on that?

All I got was a canned response telling me that my MP is very busy, can't reply to all at this time but it will be brought to her attention. Yeah right. As it gets filed under annoying loony.

Give him a mailing address and you will most likely get tons of propaganda and attempts to get you to join the party and donate. That happened to us years ago when the S/O tried to get some help from an MPP here.

i think u could of approached it alot differently

Yes I guess I could've. If I gave him more opportunity, he could've produced a hot air response on how he will look into it, collect my vote, so he can continue to be a clueless and dangerous ......

If he was worth anything, in his response he would've a convinced me, he was right, afterall he is much wiser than us as he knows and votes for what is best for us, and I'd be out buying a pack of smokes.

Having a fool in your corner isn't helpful, and not worth any effort.
