I just love our official start to WI summer: SummerFest

I'm even more excited that I get to see King George on Monday night!!!

I don't know if we'll make a day of it on Monday, or just go for the concert and maybe do a family day another day.
The girls are old enough for a day, but they're too young, and I'm to old, to do an after dark there.

Is anyone else coming ovrerr for the Big Gig??
If so, are you coming to people watch and listen, or is there someone specific you are going to see?

Summerfest is one of the things I really miss about not living in the Milwaukee area anymore,,, and the Brewers games of course,,,

I remember when it first started,,, the mud,,,lol. Summerfest sure grew up over the years...

I remember seeing so many great acts,,,

The Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Steve Miller, Kansas, Paul Simon, Sting, The B52's, Moody Blues,,, just to name a few,,,and date me a bit,,, lol

I used to love listening to Sigmund Snopek III at the comedy tent!!

Haven't been to SF in many years, but remember it well the first couple years back in the early 70's.

I was working for one of the first supporting companies and we were given nearly a thousand tickets to give away- we had trouble even giving away a couple hundred back then since no one knew anything about it lol.

My wife at the time and I went numerous times and rarely had a problem parking within a block of the gates - occasionally on a weekend you may have had to park 2 blocks away.

Now that it's blossomed - oh well I hate big crowds.

On Monday, we basically did 'dinner and a show'. We had dinner, then saw the tail end of Hughs (her first name escapes me right now), Blake Shelton and George Strait.

Yesterday, two friends were going down. They, and hubby, kept trying to talk me into going. I was up to my eyeballs in work, and I told them I would if I got it all done. Around 3pm, I started making sooo many mistakes, I figured I better pack it in for the day and decided to go.

One of the girls really wanted to see "Staind" (never heard of them before either) so we went over there early and claimed our space - back row of the first section for easy access to bathrooms and beers LOL
"Halestorm" plays right before Staind. If you are into hard rock and have never heard of Halestorm, I highly recommend them. Lzzy really has a voice on her.

Billy Squire was playing at the next stage. I got to hear some while I was making a beer run.

Best part of the evening (besides the beers and laughs) was when we walked in & I went right over to the cigar tent. I wanted/needed one of those metal tubes to carry my 510 in so the button didn't get accidentally pushed on in my bag. The (cigar) tube that I thought would work best was $7, but I was prepared to pay it. I asked the girl about it, then said "well, I really only need the case; if it will fit this" as I hold up my 510.
"OMG! Is that one of those e-cigs I keep hearing about!? Do it! show me how it works!" and it was game on!
She not only loved it and the fact that I was giving her sites to look at, she gave me the tube for free! She was sooo cool!
Come to think of it, I never told her there are also cigars and pipes LOL

The tube worked great. I think I need to put a little piece of felt or something down in the bottom though, so the LED doesn't hit the metal so hard when I slip it in.....

It's so cool hearing about how SF use to be in its infancy....must be amazing seeing how big it's gotten. It's definatly one of the best things about Milwaukee.

14 years ago, I moved from Charleston, SC to Milwaukee for a few months (before being transfered again LOL) When various people heard I was going to MKE, they all mentioned Summerfest (I had never heard of it before) and raved about how much fun they had.
