Doug,

That really sucks about Ruby.

I've been an Industrial Service Tech for 32 years, working on wide variety of high speed, automated assembly equipment. If there is one thing I know for sure, it's that a machine is only as good as the tech that installed and set it up. Sounds like you got the dullest tool in the drawer instead of the sharpest.

I'd be raising Hades right now!

Good luck going forward, and I hope the techies pull their head from their orifice real soon

Sadly, "Ruby" in all likelihood is made by a company called Haas. They're an American machine tool builder (in fact, the only one left that makes smaller machines in volume). While I'm generally a "buy American" kind of guy, I wouldn't buy a Haas for any other purpose, than to make enough money to buy a better machine as quickly as possible. It might actually last that long, but its a risk.

Haas is a sham, and should be ashamed of themselves. I've seen them take small businesses and bring them to their knees, even cause some to collapse, by selling a VERY inferior product on the promise of performance and value.

Bad week guys, super mega dumb, stupid, sad, depressing, frustrating week.... of poop. ... things started sliding downhill really fast for Ruby, and she's been down and out for 5 or 6 days now ... i was starting to get the feeling something was up by the sounds she was making up to this point and the surface finish in some areas ... she crashes ... this is good sized chunk of damage, and shes was flat dead ... <etc., etc.>

First, I refuse to "like" this post. But I do sympathize with it. So sorry to hear it's been that kind of week.

All I can say is, I'm just glad you named her. ;)

But, I'm pretty sure your customer/fan base will stick with you.
Maintain your sanity.
Get the company to send the guy who knows where to draw the "X".
We'll keep each other entertained.

So, who's up for some Jenga?

Dan, I measure the wall thickness at 4mm. The o-ring is off set slightly to the outer part of the tank, so no more than 2mm from the outside of the tank. From the positive connection, the carto wick inlet holes clear the tank at 9mm.

Thanks, that helps, here is the reveal with the changes I made...

This allows you to any size wick, all you have to do is screw the top down on the wick. The tighter you screw it to the wick the more the juice is restricted, so to can tailor it to the thickness of your juice. I can make a special tool that reaches in from the top to screw the lower piece up or down to adjust flow rates for fine tuning to eliminate flooding or dry hits, but a simple screw driver will do the same thing.

Vapian has agreed to be the tester for this venture and will post results. I will be sending this out to him soon. Since I do not have a BB to test this on. *Sniff Sniff* LOL

Sweet build Dan! Looks like it should vape like a champ. Nice to have that flw adjustment as it can come in handy not only for different juice viscosity, but also allows to adjust on the fly as that is sometimes needed as the tank gets below 2/3rds full.

Good to see Vapian is going to test this in the real deal. Wonder how much adjustment for slight differences in total cart length the BB has?

Running and oval hemp wick with no top wick this evening in a EVOD. Makes for an outstanding vape.

It looks as if changing the flow rate will also change the OAL, will that affect it fit of the tank in the BB?

That came to mind to me as well. When it gets here I'll do some fit tests with a couple of different wick/coil configurations and get some pics up ASAP.

In its current configuration it is 43mm long, a thicker wick will make it protrude slightly, but I would rather have it to long than too short :) All the way screwed together with no wick it is 40mm. Hey, no one gave me a maximum length to stay under :)

Well, true ... and "engineering specifications subject to change without notice." :)

I'll PM you before setting up the drill press for an enshortening operation. . . .

;)

It has to fit within the tank compartment and while there is some play in regards to the brass retaining ring the OAl length is going to be very important. The Diver for example is a couple mm's too long despite being sold as a standard carto length. I would think 37mm would be the max OAL.

Good to know for future manufacturing notes, once in can the carto extend out of the brass retaining ring?
