Well I'm looking forward to the Scuba-Dan.

I just need to know if I'm on the "list" LOL.

Still working on it, the quotes can back hence the redesign... would cost me about 20,000.00 for 1000 units. Also have another machinist to deliver the plans to for a quote. New design would eliminate the center pin having to be made, and the custom isolator. Instead it will use a 6-32 vented screw and nylon isolator it would be screwed into. That way I can replace the custom parts with COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) Parts (cheaper).
In the process of making the proto v4 :)

I'd volunteer again but I'm afeared my recent input has been lacking - simply have to measure where time is spent if I'm to accomplish anything useful toward any of several irons in the fire (one of which includes improving my singing voice to the point it can be pitch-corrected, up-pitched and formant-modified into a reasonable facsimile of a female singer - no small task, that!).

Of course I'd jump on the train if asked ... :) ... but I'm sure there are others ready and waiting to provide useful feedback!

Someone suggested using sugru to fix the letters that are coming off the billet box. I forgot who but it was on this forum. It totally works - thank you!

Hey Scub,

I would pay double for one of yours as opposed to one of theirs...just saying. I love the input, but I'm happier with a "send xx$ to ------- and they should be in the mail by the xx of yyy 2013 :)

L

Me too!
Just got my delivery from Mcmasters in and got my 9mm and 10mm SS rods, got the new Carto turned, just waiting on the vented screws!!

Hey guys what is the best carto to use in the BB? I have been using Boge LR but does anyone prefer SR or the Smok 1.7s? I was also considering trying the kanger horizontal coils in it? Thanks in advance!

I use Boge SRs.

Just so we're clear, if you use SRs, the batteries will last you longer than LRs at the same wattage.

any standard res UN flanged 35mm (regular) carto. from my experience, the boges with the big laser punched hole (like the ones electronicstix sell) and the ikenvape platinum punch v2 work best. as long as it's STANDARD res and not low, you should be fine. i haven't tried the kangers yet-if anybody can recommend or not recommend them, i'd be grateful, because i have a few laying around that i'm considering giving a try. but i do believe a few posts back that DD said the BB was designed for SR (3 ohm or higher) cartos, and that it runs best between 4.5-5 volts, if i'm not mistaken.

If anyone is having problems with the lettering on your Billet Box or the dial losing the black ink I saw this on Lifehacker today...Have not used it myself but it might work...

It was me..I have not tried it yet but looks like it work very well....Congrats

Well it turned up - BUT I got stung for £30 GBP at customs! Might I suggest DD that you send UK customers their BB's via Fedex next time - would get here faster - but Fedex has a deal with UK customs in that they pay customs what they are due and then send the customer a bill AFTER they deliver - usually £13 for every £100 GBP approximately - so yes you would have to pay but it would be delivered faster and the charge wouldn't be so high :)

or pork pie the value a bit on the shipping label ;););)

On to the device - what can I say - a lot smaller than I was expecting - and being a CGI- CAD designer and former engineer I am awestruck by it's intricacy and machining - it really is a work of art - my hat is off to you mate! Bloody awesome!
The missus loves it I am glad to say!

Only two things I can criticize if at all.

There is a lack of a vent hole for the batteries in the rare occurrence of thermal runaway. - if this is addressed clarify it for me - but I think a small set of holes on the base of the battery container might be needed.

the small tan/pink silicone washer that fits into the base of the tank area for the bottom of the carto - there was one in the BB and a spare provided - the one in the BB was cut and broken already after 2 days use - no sharp edge on the carto and I'm at a little of a loss to see how it happened. - I think these are going to be the main problem requiring replacement very regularly - where can we get them DD?

Can I have the appropriate dimensions to see if I can source something off the Bay. What do other owners use to replace these?

aside from those two things - again bloody awesome - Now I have to try and grab one for my Brother first and then finally one for myself!

Awesome - hmm I've said that already haven't I? ;)

No additional holes needed. Despite the tight tolerances in the machining, there is enough room between the door plate and the body to vent around the seams, especially near the bottom. The three holes on the side for carto air flow also provide for venting. I don't recommend doing this often, but try gently back-blowing into the carto while firing sometime and you'll see the vapor (and thus any gases) have room to escape. This even works if you cover the three vent holes on the side.

You can get more from DD -- I did at one point -- but honestly I don't even bother with that gasket anymore. The only thing it's really there for is to prevent tiny amounts of leaking that might occur from a carto draining just a bit into the tank area. Anything significant is just going to flow out of the carto connector's air holes anyway.

That said, very rarely have I experienced anything like that, though it can occur if the tank o-rings become damaged, the tank ball isn't fully seated, or the tank face becomes deformed (which can happen in very high temperature conditions, like being put in near-boiling water or being left in a car on a hot, sunny day). Hopefully Delrin-faced tanks will be available soon that will eliminate the high temperature issue.

Looks like it might be time to update the BB FAQ and re-post it ... :)

Anwho, have a happy Billet Boxing day. ;)

I will share the output with you guys and how to make a rebuildable atty for BilletBox. Been using my DIY RBA in Siam Mods Carto Tank and so far no leak and gurgling issue. Hopefully it will nicely fit and perform well with BB.
