Instructions on converting the Diver v1 from acetal to o-rings.

To reiterate: only remove the lower acetal, the one peeking out of the 510 connector at the bottom. The upper acetal, the one in the top of the base upon which the ceramic cup rests, acts as an electrical insulator, the Diver v1 will not work without it.

Thanks for that link, I never did find it. Somewhere I found the size and just ordered it, figured it was just the lower insulator. So you put four O-Ring in there...huh....need to go back and add one then as I only used three.

Also, just a tip for removing that lower insulator. I used my 5-40 coil wrapping bolt and tightly screwed it into the insulator. Made a great gripping point to pull that sucker out. Like you stated, it is a beach to pull out!

Thanks again!

Some have used 3 o-rings, others used 4. With 4, the pin sticks out of the bottom a bit, which might give better contact, but might also restrict airflow.

I just received a massive spool of 30g Kanthal A1. I've been using 28g, but needed the 30g for a higher resistance coil for the Diver v2 in the BB.

This is the way to go. I managed to build a 2.8 ohm coil (30g Nickel NR as well) and fit it into the ceramic cup, with organic cotton ball, around a 2mm screwdriver (5/64ths inch). If your OCD requires the coil to be fit into the cup - that would be me - this is what works.

Keep us posted either here or in the Diver thread. Sounds to me like this might be a BB issue at this point, which really sucks. If it was a Diver issue, I'd send you one of mine to try out, but my BB? You are prying that from my Cold. Dead. Fingers.

:glug:

A new day...I measured all 4 of my batteries fresh off the charger today. 3 of them were measuring 4.2+V, one only measuring 3.5V. I took a close look at the lower voltage one, and it had a small bulge on the positive end "shoulder". It will go to the battery store to be disposed of...

I was quite sure that I had switched up the batteries yesterday, but maybe I was just really tired. I also gave the brass screw thing another scrub, along with the threaded place it goes in the billet box, wiped with a cloth and IPA. Firing the tank with a carto in it for now. I'll work on the diver later.

EDIT to add: Vaping through a tank with a carto...the ground connection is really touchy. Maybe I've worn off enough of the brass to make the connection between it and the carto intermittent. I just ordered the upgraded version...looks like a better design.

Fantastic! I felt bad that you might have a faulty BB. Good to hear it was only a battery.

Here's a new one, to me anywho. So here I was vaping away on my beautiful BB. It cut out in mid vape, so I figured shucks, batteries must've died. Popped in some fresh batts, fired once for about 2 seconds, then cut out, wouldn't fire back up.

Brass ring cleaned (even though it wasn't gunked up) carto contact cleaned (little moisture there) all rails cleaned, 510 connection on carto pulled out a bit, still nuthin'. :(

I had a BB about 6 months ago and it had the patented battery snap when inserting them, my new one doesn't. I can't help but think it's not making real good contact at the batteries. But I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Check my posts a little farther up...I had a similar issue. Turns out for me, I did have a rogue battery...metered only 3.5v off the charger. I was also getting the 4.5v between the 510 and the brass ground. Scrubbed the brass contact and the treading where it goes again with an old toothbrush and Dawn. IPA rinse, and dried with a tea towel (no residue). Still having intermittent issues. I believe what has happened is that the brass ground has worn away enough to be a little loose around the carto, causing an intermittent open. Try with the door open to move the tank a wee bit while firing to see if you get it to go. I just ordered the new, improved brass thingy to fix it.

Coil could have died on the carto.

Yessir that's a strong possibility. I just haven't punched a new carto yet. I'm lazy like that. :D

I'm hoping it's not the battery, as I have no meter to find out. Brand new batts from Lighthound though. I'll try like Vapian said earlier, swapping the pairs around and see what I come up with. I don't think I'm in need of a full scrub yet, I only just received it last weekend and it's been very moderately used since then.

Oddly enough I'm trying wiggling the tank around right now, still no dice. I'm thinking about wedging a little piece of toothpick behind the battery "spring" to see if maybe adding a little more umph to the spring will help.

I'll keep y'all posted on what I come up with. :)
