I just got my BilletBox 2 hours ago... and for the last 2 hours, I've been sitting here like a stump, trying to figure out what to say...
I had never seen a BilletBox in person before. What I wanted, and thought I was getting, was a very functional and practical and TOUGH mod. Something that I could basically keep on my porch or throw in my purse, and not worry about knocking parts off, breaking an atomizer screw, having something else in my purse accidentally squeezing the button, etc.
Well, this wasn't what I expected at all! This is a work of Art. An Engineering marvel. I feel like I'm holding something built for/commissioned by Jules Verne. I'm scared to use it. I don't want to get it dirty. I am soooo careless about my things as a rule, and I don't buy wraps or covers for my PV. They get tosses in my purse, and if they get scratched, oh well. For the first time, I actually gave thought to how to keep something pristine. I wrapped the Aluminum edges in scotch tape (which happens to be exactly the right width), so they wouldn't get marred. Maybe tomorrow, I'll feel silly and peel my tape off, but today... I am simply gobsmacked, and gleeful that I have this amazing thing in my hands.
I did not get batteries yet... for some reason, I thought this would take ordinary 18350 batteries, and I didn't carefully read what I would need. I can't use it yet... but I'm not even sure I want to. I feel like I should put it in a case to admire. I just ordered the recommended AW 16340 batteries from RTD, and put in a carto and tried various drip tips for decoration, the way I'd change clothes on a doll. The BilletBox is STUNNING.
I get it. I really get it now. I understand why after getting this, people would start unloading every mod they have. I have no idea how it performs over time, and I'm not even sure I care; the thought and love that went into the design of this astounds me. From the functionality to the writing imprinted in the metal in the inside cover. This is Gestalt. I also understand why this hasn't been mass produced, and is sold in such limited quantities. Photos cannot convey how beautiful and elegant this thing is.
There is only 1 more mod that even has a hope of comparing to this, only because of customization. You have raised the standards bar impossibly high for everyone else. If ecig mods have any longevity, 100 years from now, people will still be trying to get their hands on one of these, even when we have moved beyond batteries and cartomizer delivery systems, as a 'classic'. And the design strikes me as so quintessentially American, it should be admired like Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. When I see something that actually moves me... moments I get when I stand in a museum like the Met, the little hairs in the back of my neck rise. Well, they haven't laid down for the last 2 hours. I would never sell my BilletBox, and you are a genius.
