Here's a weird situation, hoping for some guidance. Day before yesterday I rinsed out my tank with cool water, let it dry and put it back into the BB empty. Let it sit until tonight and the tank has completely frosted over! Anyone know what in the world would cause something like that to happen?

If it's on the inside, my guess would be the juice.

FatheRs Update

hey guys, busy week, but all good stuffs... we made things, Ruby didn't break for a one week record!!!
first off, i'm running parts as i type so i may rush through this update... i looked at my pm box...nope, not a chance in h3ll i can get to it..... need me, call me.

nightshift was running low on the battery contact thingys so we started off the week with a run of those, it was a nice joint effort with Ruby and Dev... These little buggers take 4 operations to mill, Ruby took the first and second turn on um.. starting with this slab of delrin on the vacuum chuck

she is such a neat freak,,, so clean, so tidy.

anywhooo, they pop out of her lookin' bout like this...

and i cut um up on whatever saw i feel like playing with so i can load um into this brand new jig!!! I think i showed this jig a few updates ago, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

all loaded

action shot!

and done,

no comment needed

so Ruby did op one and two, and were left with these little pucks that need machining for the battery clip thingys...

For the next two Dev took over as she already has the jigs to do it. If your were around for the first billet birthing you saw this cool little jig, the part itself is used as the clamp and it compresses strips of paper to create the holding force for machining.

when shes done with a side, pull up on the paper and the part pops out.

This week also saw Ruby finishing up the last aluminum piece for the boxes, the slide cover. This part changed slightly with this recodeding. not much, but as all the aluminum was recoded, it all just kinda got tweeked.. She started out with this raw stock on the vacuum chuck for the first op.

again, this was all new stuff, the first run had a little suck in it, so i tweeked the code, second run had less suck but still got scraped... third time worked super mega neat-O and that made that stock turn out like soo..

so now i had a mega stack of these slide covers still attached to each other, to separate them i needed a new vacuum jig. The last one for Dev wouldn't work in Ruby but i got to recycle some of the old code for Devs vacuum jig to make this new one... on a side note, bestillsoicanshootyou named the last jig for this op, i named this one.

so the half finished slide covers get loaded upside down on the Vacu-Suck 2000, and now Ruby gets to finish um up,, again, all new code, again, had to bin some junk...no biggie, par for the course..

got it after a few tries,, looking good.

as of this moment, she has made a stack of a over 200, she has about 5 more hours till all of these puppies are done, so i'm just gonna keep feeding um to her.

Happy Fathers Day to any Fathers out there... it was my first, (father of a potato sized fetus, but still... the wife got me a present and that's all that matters (the present was coffee))

k, i'ma go find more food, i'll be back in a bit to do a write up on......

...the Scuba Tube

this little package showed up a little over a week ago

there was toys inside...

owww, aahhh...titaniumy

I did no tinkering with it out the gate, just stuck it in, filled it up...

k, well it didn't really wick so i needed to open it up a bit, and i did that by grabbing the end with some pliers and twisting. I just kept turning and then pushing a bit on the face of the tank to see if any bubbles were coming out of the wick slots.. once i got some bubble action i stopped..

worked! worked great.. but after a bit i noticed a burnt taste that was not juice.. it was this little silicon rubber dingle,

I didn't know what this dingle was there for... i took the dingle out and it still fired... but then i phone talked with LieutenantDanIceCream on the matter, turns out the dingle is for grounding the coil wire.... ohhh, ok,, so despite it still working, i took it apart to reinstall said dingle... well poo, now it didn't work,,,, the dingle was not putting enough pressure on the wire to make it ground happy.. humm, so i looked round for somthin' to make a metal dingle, i needed a quick fix so i just stuck some brass tube in a hand drill and shaped it down really quick.

that solved it. done deal, the thing is perfect, wicks perfect, don't leak perfect, is a terrific dancer... makes an acceptable cannoli. it just works, really well...
i gave it some serious time and use before commenting and that ground dingle thingy was just the only issue i had in the slightest.... it made great vapor, once it was set up there was no dry hits in the slightest, and it wicked perfect.... as with any rebuildable, the success or failure is all down to the wick and set up. Dans ScubaTube gives the groundwork to do whatever you like with, and that's awesome as we will all want something a little different. Being able to open and close the gap for juice flow is awesome in that it gives you the ability to swing any set-up, but this flexability will take some opening and closing the gap to get just perfect,,,, but once your there, all you have to do is vape it... I turned about 90ml of juice into vapor before i rewicked the puppy due to burnt wick syndrome,, pretty darn good run time, and i ran it hard.
Dan you did great, i think you nailed it. All i can say is maybe contemplate tuning that dingle to metal , other than that,, can't think how it could get better... add sprinkles/bacon?

Great idea for an ECF thread! "Where did they spend YOUR money?"

My theif, or theifette must have been an LA gal.... several hundred on dating sites and shoes. ;)

ummm, wT f... k, i'm going back through the thread to see all you guys having card #s swiped.. yah, mine too. the bank did shut my card off in a heartbeat. I had no idea for a few days... i swiped my card for some florida deep reds at the market and got declined... didn't think much of it, heck if i know how much moneys i got... or maybe the bank network was down? so i payed green paper for the fruitballs... few days later, needed new fruitballs, nope! poop, i didn't have enough green for all of um so i had to put two away! now i was pi$$ed off. Called bank, they said there was over 50 declined attempts at movies rentals, online music BS... 4 charges went through though, totaling less than 30 bucks, one was for a movie rental, one was french salon thing, a digital music charge thing, and one other thing i forgot.. somthing's up here, that's a newer bank card, less than 3 months, and i have only ordered a few things online with it, all e-cig juice and ONLY e-juice....

Any reason my tank is splintering? I don't leave it outside in the car etc. always with me. Never dropped it. This tank sees only one e juice. Never seen anything else other than MBV cinnamon roll. So it is not a tank craker. Never touched the screw heads excelt to put in the BB or wipe down, or anything else on the tank for that matter
has to be the juice, cinnamon is killer on polycarb, but this is PTEG. It is more chemically resistant... but still, over a long period of time it can be attacked... the problem will be solved shortly, I have had the Delrin stock laying around for a while to make tank faces out of, i just haven't had the time.. but, it isn't clear, you will be able to see the juice level through it but it's nowhere near as neat-o as the clear plastic... the bottom line is there is just no better clear plastic for the job (i tried EVERYTHING).. PETG is the best, but still... over time what is happening is that the chemicals (main suspect: aromatic hydrocarbons) attack the clear plastic and change it's density, expanding and contracting it as the fluid level rises and drops, while the delrin body remains unaffected... this is stress cracking the clear plastic in your case,,, which is fine as it won't leak from that, this is just cosmetic... these cracks now act like expansion joints in concrete, and are now taking up the movement.. when i tested the polycarbonate tanks, i was not really worried about juice cracking them, i knew some would and it was just my personal stance that if a juice can destroy plastic, i really don't want it in my lung holes. My opinion is not the holy grail however, so i started a quest for a better plastic, PTEG is the best CLEAR plastic i could get, and I tested the tanks with as much "tank cracker" juice i could. A strong cinnamon juice definitely hurt the plastics feeling, but it did not leak... I can't vouch for what anyone puts in there juice so this becomes a really hard thing to get to the bottom of, but i can tell you that when i have just a bit of time, i will run a batch of the delrin faced tanks and that should hold ANY e-juice on up to battery acid!

Thanks Doug, Karen did write me back. I understand and hear what you are saying, however, as i just wrote Karen, this same juice has been used in my friends cheapo carto tank for a year or more with no issues at all and I have used it in a vivi nova for longer than I have in my billet box tank with not issues, so just strikes me odd to be the juice. As I just wrote Karen back...stranger things have happened I suppose. I have also confirmed with the vendor they have never had issue with the bakery juice, cinnamon roll. But there is always a first I guess.
Thanks for the feedback and looks like things are rolling in BB land. I will be waiting for the release of the other tank! :)

Awesome update yet again DD... One heck of an operation my friend..

I too have been busy learning a lot.. Still lots to learn.. A mini manual lathe gets things done but dang... its called lot of work.

I've sent out a couple more "prototypes" of my rba .. they should receive them today. ..
The finished atty will be titanium [grade 5] same stuff for replacing bones and stuff...lol

Here is a pick of my Father's Day gift I made for myself:p
It's made from the same titanium the rba carto will be turned from.. looks nice I think...

For the tank troubles I have been working on a pyrex tank... should have something finished soon. (Crossing fingers) :D

Thanks for the update DD. Looks as thou u had a good Fathers day to be meal. That has to be an exciting thought for you.
So glad Ruby is bein a little more cooperative for you. It is so fascinating to see how everything is done and how much stuff it takes to make something. Kinda makes you think when u pick up anything, on what all it takes to make it. NOW QUIT FIDDALIN AROUND AND GET THOSE BBs DONE!!!!!!!~ LOL Ha Ha that's OK we all needs a little distractions once in a while to keep the mind fresh. Take your time cause I personaly want perfection, and I know your BBs are the closest any have come to it (in my mind anyway.)

Congrats to you too Dan looks like your gonna be famous too. Everyone will be waitin on this little jewel to hit the market. Better get the F5 fingers limbered up everyone. WOW, getting such praise from DD has got to have put a big smile on your face, he seems to like perfection too. Way To Go Dan.

Wowzzzer what a tip. That is so sweet. Are you gonna be makin and selling some of those things. Can't wait for more info on your rba too. DARN, now gotta go back and recheck on all your work on here again. But at least I was almost to that point in my 3rd reread. LOL
Read reread and I love watching all the birthings of the ideals getting put into life on here. You folks have great minds and creative hands.

What juice are you running in it?
Dan

It Boardwalk Brew from Roar Vapor. I even made it a point to check with Mike before I loaded it in the BB to see if that juice had a reputation for destroying tanks. He said he hadn't heard about that juice being problematic. Guess I should send him an e-mail and tell him.
