I don't see much said about this mod - it's a sleeper I guess. Mine cost $19, so I wasn't expecting much. It hits good, has buttery threads as well as a decent magnetic switch, and works good out of the box. I modified my switch by adding a washer between the copper (plated?) bottom pin and knurled lock nut. The washer rides snug inside the delrin ring. The washer shortens the throw a little but more important it gives added stability since the switch is stabilized at two points instead of one - zero switch wobble.

The tubes look OK but not great - about the same as the photos I see of the original. I polished it a bit and now it looks as good as it works. below is a before and after photo of my mod.

I ran some test numbers to see how the mod performs. I used a 30 amp MNKE battery that reads at 3.97 volts. Without an atomizer the mod reads at 3.97 volts too. With a 2.2 ohm atty the volt drop is 0.06, and with a 0.9 ohm atty the volt drop is 0.13. These numbers are good enough for me.

Looks good, hits good, great switch, very respectable performance - a winner.
