Okay, I've been DIY for a few months now with very good results... usually. lol As has been noted before Cherry is a PITA. After 7 months of trying I finally got a cherry that I'm actually really happy with. (it's a combo of TPA Maraschino Cherry and FA Cherry.)

I typically use FA with some TPA which overall imo are more "real" flavours, not very artificial.

The hubby wants a Cherry Koolaid type flavour. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would prefer the flavouring to be dye free.

I know that in some of the stickies they mention a few but I would like to be able to buy just one bottle of flavouring (or a combo if one is known) because if it's not right he won't vape it and neither will I and I got enough flavouring in different flavours already prolly to last me a lifetime!

Also it would be helpful if the flavouring is potent. I typically use FA and TPA in the 15-20% range though this can vary a little since the hubby usually prefers the 10-15% range.

Also, any ideas on a Grape Koolaid flavour would be excellent as well.

I bought Wild Cherry from FlavorWest well over a year ago - tastes like a cherry lifesaver - maybe your DH would like that. It really is quite good. If you try it and want to kick it up a couple of notches, add a couple of drops of menthol (or Cool Mint) to it to brighten it. I can't really remember what koolaid tastes like - didn't like it as a child, so drank the fruity flavors in soda pop.

So do tell please, about your combo of TPA Cherry + Maraschino Cherry. What magic numbers did you plug in?

FWIW, I ordered both from TPA yesterday and FA's Cherry today to try the same thing. Based on Linda's good reviews on the Marasch. Ch., it just seemed like it was worth a shot.

One last thing you might consider - Lorann's came out with a Natural's line. The reviews on the Cherry are quite favorable.

Have you tried some TPA Black Cherry in the mix?? I have some mixxed with FA Cherry that has been steeping for 3 weeks now and have tried it occassionly at weekly periods. It's still got that bite to it yet. But it has calmed down quite a bit since birth. Maybe time will tell. Cherry is my fav vape too.

=D Okay. I have vaped about 5mLs of this recipe (and I'm excited cuz it hasn't let me down yet all week!) I let this batch only steep for a week cuz I was impatient but it still is going strong:

2% FA Magic Mask
10% FA Oba Oba
12% FA Marshmallow
38% TPA Maraschino Cherry PG
38% FA Cherry

I use this flavouring mix at around 15% total in juice mixture but just to warn you this is a strong flavouring... it's the TPA MC. On the website when they say that this is a strong flavouring they are not kidding! woah! (and if you do decide to try it in food it makes a Wendy's vanilla frosty taste like superman ice cream! =D)

I'll keep the FW Wild Cherry in mind. The lifesaver cherry is more sweet than Cherry Koolaid (which I always thought as a slightly sour cherry) but I can always play with the tartness. I think I'd seen a flavouring somewhere to increase sourness... will have to find it and order it. I've been meaning to do this anyways. I just need a much more artificial cherry base flavour to start from. I'll also keep the Lorann's natural in mind but I'm worried about how strong it is.

TYVM!

No TPA Black Cherry yet but I was planning on acquiring this anyways. I like the actual flavour of FA Black Cherry but it still doesn't seem to have the oomph I'm looking for. (like it's diluted/too watery in taste). I was actually thinking about trying the same technique and hoping that TPA Black Cherry has the intensity like TPA Maraschino Cherry so it would amp up the cherriness to get that in your face flavour blast.

Yeah I've never really found a cherry premade that I really liked but I haven't tried many anyways. Vaping 36mg+ (I normally mix up my own juice at about 40mg) severely limits options.

I fully encourage people to try the flavouring mix in their mixtures. I would love to have more feedback good and bad. For more info the total juice mixture I made looks like this:

4% - VG
14% - vodka, 80 proof
15% - flavouring mix
67% - 60mg/mL VG nic

Desert, 14% vodka in your mix is waaaay too much; try 5% for safety sake. Even 8% PGA (Everclear) sent me into severe coughing fits. In fact, I had to discontinue my PGA altogether b/c it started affecting the taste of my juice - several at a vapemeet last December said they could taste it in my Almond Joy type juice. However, 5% is a nice number for throat hit. I realize PGA is different than just plain vodka, but even in Smirnoff Blue, 14% is not a safe level.

but that's pga. This isn't. It's only 40% ethanol and 60% water. So really when you work it out if you wanna talk in terms of PGA then it's at 5.6%. So a tad more than your recommendation, but not much imo. I don't like using less because then the juice is too thick. Plus I've been vaping juices like this for months! No coughing fits and to me I don't notice any difference in flavour compared to using distilled water. ??? Perhaps it's the nic covering it? I like it. It gives wonderful TH!

??? anyone else? have I done my math wrong? idk i've had no problems but... :/

ETA: at one point in experimenting I have used more vodka. At that point I could taste it in the mixture and went back down again. Plus it made the juice too thin for my devices. but this still doesn't resolve much.

Well, Desert, looks like I'm going to have to back down a few steps. You certainly do have seniority over me - you should know what you're doing if you've been mixing since - wowza 2009! That rocks!

Sorry Desert, I shoulda looked @ your join date b4 putting fingers in motion. Maybe you should buy cherry vodka then.:D

EDIT: Several months ago, when I was adding Everclear to my juices for TH, I did a little research on the safety of it - Wikipedia states the safety/danger of inhaling alcohol is unknown at this time. Also, remember the AWOL inhaler machine that the Brits invented - that machine where you inhaled the alcohol instead of drinking it? The marketers of that machine said that it was safe to do so if you used the inhaler no more than 2ce in a 24-hour period. I think the allowed usage time was 20 minutes at a time. However, we're not inhaling pure alcohol like the AWOL machine, so I figured it must be okay in small does.

No worries and no problem :D I am only human and mistakes are possible especially for me.

TY for the extra info as well. This comforts me greatly and makes me realise that I've got a bit more reading to do. I had gotten so into researching the components of the flavourings that I kinda glossed over alcohol.
