This is my first post...
I am anxiously awaiting my first e-cigs, seems like forever, and I struggle with the desire not to smoke analogs constantly.

I read many articles concerning the FDA's position and wanted to enter my two cents even though my thoughts are not "original".

I believe e-cigs should be a viable alternitive to smoking. Getting stuck at the word "quitting" or "drug delivery" is counter-productive. People will always continue to smoke,
this has been proven time and time again. Increasing the taxes has only improved the profitability of the deadly addiction. I wish my mother had used e-cigarettes instead of smoking for 45 years, she may very well be alive today.

I hate the idea that government is trying to control yet another aspect of our lives with a careless disreguard for common sense.

I agree with you ('preach to the choir' all you like here as I see it, we can kind of bolster each other up by seeing what we each think, sometimes new questions and comments actually do come out of it too)

At the time of writing this I still have the options for what I call 'cleaner tobacco methods' too (nasal snuff and oral swedish snus) but I'm finding I just really like the idea of just nicotine on a solution.. JUST nicotine.. this alones me to get rid of any other side addictions that might have been hidden in cigarettes (where they put ammonia and 'freebased' formaldehyde/embalming fluid(!) and 'tobacco flavoring' and whatever else on top of it.

Especially if we ever get to the place where the e-liquid is clear and truly uhm.. sterile or antiseptic (or whatever it is I'm actually trying to say here) 'cleaner' too so that its not mysteriously brown

I like the idea of just having clean nicotine.. one thing to deal with and that one thing dealt with cleanly and now I"m off analogs and working my way towards being completely off tobacco and into various 'clean nicotine' methods

I just wish I could at least count on ONE aspect of this still being here when its all said and done

It really frustrates me that we dont' know if:

a. Snus and nasal snuff are in danger of going away at any time (okay its a tobacco product but still, better than smoking and there's rulings coming down the pike to threaten them and the import/online purchase of them)

b. E cigarettes themselves, personal vaporizers 'shaped like cigarettes' (and I think that is a mistake, maybe we need more designers to come up with just completely non cigarette looking things) might be going away due to screwy rules being made up as we go just for them.. I mean the very physical device is under threat.. that blows me away

c. the e-liquid, that supplier of that clean nicotine is under all these 'make it up as you go to try to kill it rules' too

I've been working on 'work arounds' on all fronts on this nearly as soon as I learned about them I learned about the threats to take them away (and have even found a few good alternate uses/means to use nicotine E-Liquid in the event the PVs are gone but the liquid is still allowed)

I mean, I could deal with one, or maybe in a pinch, two of these things being taken away..
but all three?

Somebody needs to seriously cut us a break, somewhere

EDITED to add:

If you're wondering what I've got in mind:

if we're left with tobacco, E-Cigarettes but no E-Liquid:
I can make cartridges out of little mini snus pouches (see another thread on here and a video by an amazing guy who goes by TropicaBob for more on that idea) and I could use Lobelia and its extract and try again to fiddle with squeezing tobacco/nicotine out of the tobacco. (I bought an entire pound of lobelia leavs for about $8.00 online.. you cant do that with tobacco these days)

If we're left with tobacco, E-Liquid, but no E-Cigarettes:
then I can make my own nicotine nasal spray and nicotine inhalers and if I felt I just really had to get actual vapor involved I could use a couple of interesting handheld vaporizers (of an alternate type) that I have (Vapir and Iolite or whatever, have to get it back out to see its correct name)

If we're left with E-Liquid, E-Cigarettes, but no tobacco (which is the least likely as I see it)
That's kind of self explanatory I guess

If we're only left with E-cigarettes, I'll use lobaline extract to make lobaline e-liquid

If we're only left with E-juice, I'll make homemade nasal inhalers out of it

If we're only left with tobacco, I'll keep taking oral snus and nasal snuff.

They just can't take all three (lets hope they don't).

It's been my assumption that the color of e-liquid was due entirely to the flavorings- isn't unflavored still clear, even with nicotine content?

To be completely honest I have yet to actually possess any completely unflavored (though some is on the way mailed to me as I write this so I will see) but I have seen from others writing here that nicotine does make it browner and what I do have and can see and tell you are I have bottles of all the following all from the same place and all same flavor (Marlboro):

0 mg, 6 mg, 12 mg. 18 mg, 24 mg, 36 mg, 48 mg

and the 0 mg Marlboro-flavored is completely clear.

The rest of them get darker yellow/brown colored gradually as you go up the strength, so because that 0 is clear and the rest of them do this, I do think its the nicotine that's caused this.

I can line them all on the counter and see them getting darker as they get stronger (they are all marked as to what they are and what strength to confirm this).

I've read/heard that pure nicotine isn't colored, but is clear.

Some people think its the nicotine from china that is dark like that and that means its not really pure (might be extracted from tobacco in some way that's not as good as a chemist lab here in the US etc might do)
