I keep seeing these banners for how long people have quit smoking and how much they save, and it makes me so curious: how much of that money saved from quitting is used on vaping? I mean no offense at all from the question, it's just been poking around my mind for a bit

Depends on the person to begin with I spent the same amount on vaping maybe a little more to get started. After I got my tanks and batteries I started to make my own juices. Now it is a fraction of what I would have spent.

It all depends on the person. Some of us have an addition to buying mods now. :(
One average I spend $3.00 -$5.00 dollars a day vaping if you consider coil, wick, etc, and depending on juice I use. Cigarettes I was more around $15.00 or more a day.

But from a health aspect, I would say it's worth the investment.

Depends upon how quickly you find a vaping setup which works for you, or if vaping also becomes a hobby where you become a collector.

I have found a couple of setups which work great for me. I seriously doubt that I will need to buy another mod or atomizer than what I already have in my possession.

I have two AltSmoke mechanical mods and two Provari regulated mods. Plenty of batteries for all four mods and two dependable chargers.

I have a KFL+ RBA tank, two rebuildable drip atomizers, and a dozen pyrex cartotanks with plenty of pre-punched cartomizers. So, I am well set with mods, batteries, chargers, and juice delivery devices for a long long time.

My recurring costs are for e-liquid. I'm on a low income so I rarely buy from vendors, so I've made a lot of DIY e-liquids for my use. Vegetable glycerin is cheap and readily available from department stores and pharmacies. Kanthal wire and organic cotton is cheap. I doubt that I spend more than $30 a month on vaping. Compared to the $150 I spent a month on cigarettes, I'm doing alright.

I like to think of the money I spent on cigarettes as the money I CAN spend on vaping. I'm still new to the vaping scene and haven't gotten all the stuff I think I'll need. I have a good start, an Itaste vv and MVP, a protank 2, protank mini, an Iclear 30, and another protank 3 that I ordered but has yet to arrive. I also have kanthal and cotton to rebuild my coils. Right now I'm just looking for the right juice. I use my money calculator as a guideline of how much I have to spend and stay in my previously established budget.

In my case I've spent more than it claims I've saved so far, however, by my estimates, all my gear will be paid for in less than 2 months of what it would have cost me for cigarettes.

After that I'll be saving roughly 3/4 of what I used to spend per month. Yes, some of that savings will, I'm sure, go back into vaping gear and the rest into my various other hobbies.

Pretty easy to do the math, just have to know how much you smoked per month, know what your gear is costing, and have a good idea of how much juice you're likely to go through in a months time, add it all up and compare.

I haven't saved anything yet as I spent maybe 80 bucks every 6 weeks but I won't have to worry about being charged extra on my health insurance for being a smoker.

According to my calculations (or the Vape app) that I will have caught up by October 2015. But not only is it healthier, it's also fun searching for my perfect setup!

I put up 30 dollars every 2 weeks for a "vape budget" But it goes to new rda's/rba's/flavors I want to try out in my diy.. Right now I'm trying to save up some money for one of those spiffy 30watt box mods.. It'll take a little while, but I'm fine with that. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have to spend anything for a few months. My juice costs come out to less than a dollar a day. With rebuilding I spend cents a week on coils and wick..

If I subtract my vape expences (mods, atomizers, juice, bottles, batteries, the box i put my vape stuff in, everything) from what I would have spent on tobacco I come out around $900.00 in the green over 6 months.

It can be VERY cheap if you do it right.

I've been vapeing for a year and a half now. For the most part, honestly I think I've spent at least as much on vapeing as smoking. Not to say that you have to, I just did. A few months ago I finally found my perfect setup, the Reo. I liked it so well I picked up four of them. I now have those, 6 bottom fed attomizers, two spools of kanthal wire, plenty of organic cotton. I also DIY, I have a gallon of PG, a gallon of VG, almost two liters of nicotine, a river of flavoring. For now, I'm calling it good enough! Honestly, I'm more than content with what I have and I'm finally anxious to sit back, vape and enjoy no longer spending money.

I know conservatively:

696 days smoke free

Money saved on smoking $5879.89

Money spent on vaping $2323.64

Money saved $3556.25

When I was interested in vaping as a hobby, it was expensive. When I lost interest in knowing every detail about every device and trying every single thing for myself, it wasn't expensive any more.

I bought a new mod last week - for the first time in well over 2 years. I bought a couple of rebuildable attys in the last few weeks... but for the last couple of years, I've been buying commercial attys in quantities enough to last several months at a time. I have a primary juice that's on the expensive side costing me around $50 a month or so. I buy new batteries to retire old ones once or twice a year.... For the last couple of years, including juice, batteries, and attys, my costs averaged around ~$65 per month. That's a lot less than my name brand smokes at a PAD cost me.

About a hundred bucks bought me a couple of good rebuildable attys and supplies enough to probably last 5 years, so my commercial atty costs are from now on non-existent. I'll never buy a commercial atty ever again. I'm starting to experiment/consider unflavored and/or DIY for juice, so sometime soon my juice costs will probably be something less than $20 per month. I expect to still buy batteries once or twice a year. - So, I'm looking forward to the next couple of years monthly cost to be $25 a month or maybe even less.

I did a spreadsheet after a year and a half (can't remember and can't find spreadsheet anymore) I stopped using it.

Basically on side had all of my vape purchase the other side what 5 packs of smokes a week would be in that time frame. Subtract vapes purchase from what smokes would have cost equals savings.. After 1.5 year it was 1200 bucks.

No reason for me to look. I am a cheapskate when it comes to vape purchases too.

I mainly only have a banner to keep track of how long it's been, the money thing isn't as important but i think i'd lose my mind if i felt like I was spending more on vaping than i did from smoking

i recently purchased a bunch of stuff and a bunch of liquid so even though it's a pretty penny, i'm not allowing myself to buy anything for awhile even though i want another kayfun with air control....i'll end up trying to trade for one shortly with the stuff that i've purchased and dont' really enjoy

but i've gone months at some points without making a single ecig purchase, other times i order a lot in a short period of time, i'd say i've saved though close to $1k so far, i'm ok with that

at this point i'm buying inexpensive liquid and clones so i'm not dropping a couple hundred dollars on one piece of the vaping puzzle

My first 3 weeks I spent more on vaping than I had on smoking. But excluding those first 3 weeks, I'm saving an average of 1/3 the cost of cigarettes per week. This will improve as time goes on, as I've bought things like DIY liquid supplies recently that won't need replacing for a while. I shouldn't actually need anything for the next 2 weeks, and after that I'm going to budget myself more strictly to half what I would have spent on cigarettes, which I think is achievable.

It does depend what kind of gear you are looking for. Some people don't save any money at all, but it can be done if you want to.

All great post and reminds me that I really need to set a vape budget. Being an ex chain smoker and spending more time in my garage then in my office, I turned into a chain vaper and I know I will never hit $1-$2 a day mark, but it's better then was I was spending on smokes. I think in the long run I will reel myself in from feeling the need to buy anything other then juice.

After months of searching I did find a couple of vendors and flavors that I just love and don't feel the need to buy anything more, I suffered my way through a lot of bad juices that I didn't enjoy. I try to stock up during sales when possible. I buy in bulk of juices I love, not just like and may never get used.

I think I am finally getting to a point that my monthly expenses will be mostly juice, batteries, wire and replace something that breaks. I will never need anymore wick since I have a life time supply of cellulose cotton.
