I understand your thoughts after reading the article but the pg in vaping has something to do with preventing the absorption of water molecules, insert science here or some junk. The article runs with the assumption that you aren't vaping or more to the point, doesn't take it into consideration.

People would say that meat isn't bad for you but if you added, "I am not cooking it"; it changes the conclusion of the theory.

I am also not trying to sound like a jerk but on the New User Forum, there is enough mis-information or people giving advice on things they themselves don't completely understand (not saying you) so we should encourage anything we have heard repeatedly to do so new users enjoy their experience. A kidney stone wouldn't be one of the things I would enjoy about vaping.

Yup, hydrate more if you are vaping. It's the first thing I said. I think there is good infomation in the article being a new vapor or not.

I seem to live right on the edge of dehydration at all times, anyway. If there is the slightest extra loss of moisture (EXCESSIVE sweating -- hot flashes here -- crying -- menopause here ;) ), I get the most excruciating leg cramps in the night. So, a) the 64oz of water per day, not a myth at all; in fact, more is even better -- the body is about, what, 86% water? BUT! you don't have to get it all from plain water -- any non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverage counts (even thin soup!); and b) vaping does seem to increase the need for water -- when I first started doing this pretty regular, the leg cramps informed me with a vengeance that I needed to INCREASE my already-prodigious water consumption. And now that I AM doing this pretty regularly, and smoking less and less all the time, I do notice a dry mouth/throat more often. It seems counter-intuitive; stop breathing smoke, start breathing vapor -- seems like you'd need less, doesn't it? But you do in fact need more.

*shrug* The weirdness of life.

Yes....PG is kind of a dessicant, it will help to draw the moisture our (which is why it is used in hospital breathing treatments)...your body does adjust to it over time...but especially when you're new and geeked about this new device and onslaught of flavors to try out and possibly overdoing, the pg can dehydrate a bit more

Have a kidney stone or two and see how not getting enough water feels.

No more huffingtonpost for me. Getting very sloppy around there lately.

I'm no lover of huffingtonpost.com but I had read this information elsewhere before. The benefits of water vs. kidney stones are mentioned in the article. I should mention that I do drink a lot of water during the day but when I pick up my diet soda I don't go "OMG this is going to dehydrate me!"

I've always stayed very hydrated - not sure why, it has just always been a habit of mine.

That said, with respect to vaping, once I started, I felt dehydrated more often. I experienced "vapour tongue" semi-frequently. Since I upped my water intake, I haven't had a repeat case of "the tongue" - so there's that motivation for me, irrespective of whether my body "needs" it or not.

That is an interesting article (and also the "maybe it is marketing" is an interesting thought). I have never been much of a water drinker, but I can say that my doctor always says drink lots of water to wash out "whatever" it is when I have a health issue. Since I have been vaping, I do drink more water than I had previously, because I get that "I am thirsty" feeling, but I drink quite a bit of coffee/tea as well. Something to think about, for sure.

ROFL... nor do I with my constant cups of tea... although I drink the caffeinated kind because decaf tea is like colored water, in taste. I just try to drink more water -- everytime I go to the fridge for ANYTHING -- grab the water bottle and chug it a couple times.

I hear ya. Actually stopped going there a while back. Just a tip, water with a bit of fresh lemon tastes great and is good for preventing kidney stone formation as some stones will not form in acidified urine. Dr. McCoy told me that, maybe he was messing with me. ;)
