Back in the late 80's I used to ride a road bicycle 80 miles every other weekend. I'd do 20 mile trips in the evening, no problem at all. Then I started smoking. Moved to a neighborhood surrounded by ghetto, can't ride far and lost interest.

I smoked 20-50 cigs a day from around 1990 until May 31st, 2015.

I couldn't ride a bike 1 mile last year, could hike 4-5 miles, but not steep stuff. Today, after 15 months or whatever of not smoking (but vaping), I'm doing 8 miles off road on a mountain bike a day. Steep stuff also, 12% grade near the top. I'll take a break, vape a couple hits, get some water, then continue onward.

I'm talking about loose soil/sand with loose rocks, boulders, logs, almost black diamond trails. (Everything where I live is near black diamond if not in valley center.) And everyday I do this, I go farther, and faster. 3 weeks ago, I even out hiked a 46 yr old 6 year veteran to mountain biking/non smoker. She crapped out about 1/2 mile before the end. Hah! I smoked for 25 years. (She still made it, just slowed down.)

Thank the world for vaping. I feel great, and just wanted to tell you all.

I used to do 20 miles on my mountain bike but had to give up due to a back injury from an auto accident. Since then I have quit smoking and since it is my 2 year anniversary you just gave me a great idea for this weekend! Congratulations your feeling better and I will see how I do this weekend!

No actually I did not even think about the bicycle since I hurt my back and was semi crippled for the weekend and beginning of the week. Was thinking about the bicycle today when I went for a hike in the woods. Thanks for thinking about me though!
