Sorry if I missed it, this is such a long thread, but have you completely given up on the Echo's and gone over to the Ego Megas?

If so, are you having any of the burning problems with the Ego Megas that you had with the Echos?

Also, are the Ego Megas easily cleaned? I have tried cleaning two Echos, one by just boiling and another by taking out the filler, dry burning, etc. and both were DOA upon refill.

It's time for me to order some new cartos and I am wondering if the Ego Megas are better than the Echos, especially with the burnt taste/cleaning issues?

Also, I did read a comment on the mad vapes Ego Mega page that the carto leaked - have you had this problem? Leaking with the Ego-T attys is what drove me to the Echos!

Thanks for any help!

Hi All,

Got my dual-coils yesterday! I had expected double the vapor (wishful thinking) and twice the flavor. 1 out of two is not bad. The vapor production is slightly better than the single-coil, but the flavor! Wow! I use chocolate as a benchmark (because I'm diabetic) and let me tell you that the dual-coil is the kine for flavor! Rich chocolaty flavor comes through with each articulate, flavorful puff. The flavor remains consistent to the last puff. I use a standard 1300mAh Echo auto battery (I've been spoiled... can't use a manual again). Time will tell how much shortening of the battery charge will be. So far it seems much the same as the single-coil performance. These dual-coil puppys are SO worth the wait and the slight increase in price. Essentially ECHO still remains the best buy in e-cigarettes for extra-flavorful (with the dual-coils), superior performance and hassle-free vaping. Period.

PS: Can't wait to try out Pink Spot's Honey-Cured Tobacco e-juice with the new dual-coils!

Thanks, Jimmy Jet, for the reply.
I think I'm just going to go ahead and order some more Echos for the time being. I already have TMJ, don't need to get lockjaw from trying to get some vapor off an Ego Mega. Plus, there was that one post on Mad Vapes about them leaking, and I HATE leaking.

By the way, I see Mnt Vapor is now only carrying the Dual Coil Echos - do you think/know if the single coil models will stop being produced? I am wondering if the dual coils run "hotter", which I definitely do not want. I like everything about the vapor that the single coils produce - amount, taste and temperature, I would hate to see the singles taken off the market in favor of the duals, which from the few reviews I've seen, people describe as being "warmer".

Also waiting to hear if the dual coil Echos can be cleaned by taking apart and dry burned or not - only one person said they tried it and it didn't work. (Not that I was able to successfully clean a single coil myself!)

Thanks, all help greatly appreciated!

Janner are you sure you let the ones you cleaned were dried good enough before refilling them? I've found the cleaner from Smoktek works very good for cleaning them and if you use Vodka or alcohol they dry very fast. Cartomizer/Atomizer Cleaning Kit - With 10ml Control Syringe, Luer-lock compatible w/cleaning tubes and instructions Yes, you can still remove the filler to clean if you choose that method. I think they will continue to carry the singles for a while but there isn't likely to be alot of demand for them after people try the duals. They don't run hot like other duals I've tried.:2cool:

Thanks, Tumbleweed!

Yeah, I think they had plenty of drying time - two weeks! Update on the one that I only boiled - I let it sit overnight and now it's working again! I thought I had let it sit long enough, but I guess it needed more time for the filler to absorb the liquid.

The one I took apart and dry burned the coil - shortly after it started to glow red, I heard a pronounced pop and then no more glowing (and yes, I do know to only hold in the button to dry burn for like 10 seconds at a time). Despite that, I restuffed the filling and filled it with liquid and nothing. So I may just stick to the boiling since that seems to work.

I saw that cleaning kit on Smoke Tek, may pick it up in the future.

I'm glad to hear the dual coils don't run hotter. You may think I'm nuts (or overtly sensitive) but I had ego batteries already when I got my Echo-E kit, so I just kept using them - I had two 1100 mahs from Cignot and a 650, which I never used. After a while, I decided to break out the 1300 mah battery I got from Cool Vapes. After just vaping for about an hour, the roof of my mouth started to feel burned, like I had just eaten a slice of too hot pizza. So I broke out my Giantomizer, put the 1300mah battery on that - same thing, worse actually - the roof of my mouth was burnt and getting more burnt with every toot. So I switched back to the 1100 mah battery - instantly, no more burning on either carto. Then I broke out the 650 mah battery, cooler (and smoother) than the 1100.

Now I've never heard of anyone mentioning this, but I could definitely feel that the juice was hotter in my mouth with the 1300 and I didn't like it at all. That's why I was concerned that the dual coils might make it hotter, which is not something I would like. I appreciate your telling me that they DON'T run hot like other duals!

Thanks!

Today I finally got around to trying the Dual Coil Echo-E's that I've had for a couple weeks. Yes they are better than the single coils.

Vapor production is slightly better. Flavor is much better. The vapor is warm but not hot. It is also a quiet vape. No crackling at all. Considering what a great vape the single coils are, this pretty much tells the story.

FYI - I did a comparison with regulated and unregulated 3.7V eGo style batteries. There is a very substantial difference. The regulated batteries just don't have the muscle to drive the Dual Coils. Sure wish I had a KGO batt to try.

Now we just need some time to see how the duals work in the long-term.

JJ :)

Thanks for the info that Cropduster still has the single coils - however, just before I checked back in on the forum this AM, I ordered some from Nhaler, because I also wanted to try some of their juice.

I don't know if I have a regulated or unregulated Ego battery - I'm pretty sure it's a genuine Joye from Cignot - what would that make it? Does that mean I won't get good vapor production/flavor from the dual coil Echo-E cartos with my Joye ego batteries?

Thanks,
Jan

If the battery is a genuine Joye, then it is regulated. I have never heard of an unregulated Joye. If this is incorrect someone please say so.

As for the question about vapor, as always, that is personal preference. The Dual Coil vapes fine on my genuine Joye eGo battery. But I prefer my vape in the "knock your socks off" range. Some people do not.

If you've been happy with your genuine Joye so far, you will likely be happy using it with a Dual Coil.

Hi Jan,

There's a pretty good chance the batteries that burned your mouth are unregulated to give you 3.7v though fresh off the charger they can be as high as 4.18v in my experience. The batteries that didn't burn were probably regulated at 3.2v. A volt/ohm meter is a handy tool for vapors to have around.

Ah ah, Errol, that's probably it! My 1300 mah battery is not a Joye, it probably is running at a slightly higher voltage - thanks! Mystery solved! I don't own a volt/ohm meter, didn't think it was necessary on an ego type battery.

Jimmy Jet - thanks for letting me know the dual coils vape just fine on a regular ego - I'll order some next time around. Glad you like the "knocks your socks off" kind of jolt, but I that's not for me.

Thanks guys for all your help!

Jan
