That method won't work for Dual Coil carts as part of the coils and all the wires are on the outside of the tube at 1/3 and 2/3 of the distance from the bottom to the top.

That's sort of true, what you say. The method I posted last year for the gogo cartomizer was specificly for horizontal, single coil cartos. It works well with echo-e single coil cartos and I've cleaned quite a few of them. I use them with the KGO quite a bit. The new dual coil carto for the gogo can also be cleaned in a similar manner even though it is a vertical coil carto as the outside plastic casing can be removed. Actually, any single coil horizontal cartomizer can be stripped down, cleaned and dryburned to new condition. I tried the dual coil echo carto and found I prefer the single coil for my vaping.

need cheapest and best cartos, please. I'm running through these things way too fast and my cleaning experiments have been iffy. I want the little ones (have backup bloog 78mms) and the 3ml echos. I'm not sure I need the DCs....can't say I've notice a massive difference so not sure worth the extra $$. Thx in advance!!

http://nwvapors.com/ has the echo single coils for 2.50 which is the cheapest I've seen currently, and they have a 5 pack of the small kr808's for 6.50. Haven't ordered from them yet, but will probably stock up tomorrow. Not sure if the price for 808s there is low, but seems low enough to me.

But I'm concerned, how fast are you going through the echo cartos? How many fills are you getting?

I've only had mine a short time, but have gone through about 12 ml of juice in my main carto with no issues so far.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with better prices if they exist.

Well, we are two heavy smokers (or were). We have a five-pack of DC cartos with one left. And we bought a total of 10 with the two original starter kits we ordered. So we've used 14 in a little less than three weeks. We're still using about 8 of them and a couple have not seemed to survive the cleaning -- i.e. - I've refilled with juice since then and get no vapor, no hit. Others have, so I know I did the cleaning right, essentially.

Yeah, it seems high, I know. I'm syringing the first fill, then topping off with drips from bottles. We vape pretty constantly all day, and I'm away from home working and commuting for 12 hours so I'm taking two or three of the big cartos and five or six of the little ones, just for insurance. I have absolutely no organizational method yet -- wish I did -- but I'm playing carto roulette with flavors as all the cartos look the same ... are there drip tips for the big ones that are different colors?

I have to say, I thought I'd get more fills out of the big cartos.

Yes there are, there's a link somewhere in this thread about them, if you do a search you should be able to find it.

In the mean time, you can use a sharpie on the carto, I found that you can see it against the black, but that it wears off after a few hours. So my next idea is to put a piece of clear tape over the ink. Removing the tape should you need to may cause some paint removal on the carto though.

Ill leave the carto life, to someone more experienced, but think maybe you would have more success with a smaller ammount of active cartos-if that makes sense at least that way they all won't die/need cleaning at once.

Wow, that is a lot of cartos in three weeks. Mine usually last me five to ten days before they need cleaning. It all depends on the type of juice you use to how often they need cleaning. I usually stick with menthol or tobacco and they don't gunk up the coil as quick as other flavors. I've only had a couple of cartos in a year that wouldn't fire at all and they were DOA. I've only cleaned a few of them though so I'm not sure what kind of luck I will have with them after cleaning them. They are all still in a ziplock waiting for a rainy day and it doesn't rain very often in Eastern Wa. lol I'm a little different than most vapers though and don't top off my cartos at all. I vape them pretty dry and usually get in about 3ml on my refills and about 3.4 ml on a new carto. :2cool:

The kr808d-1 from NW may not be horizontal. Seems like an odd size either way. 35-50 drops. 1.4ml. I've only seen standard and xl. Maybe they are xl. Gonna have to email him but if somebody wants some first, an email should be in order. I've been looking for a source of xl horizontals for my tank from a supplier I trust.

On a side note: I have a kuwako on the way. I think. No confirmation email and no package tracking from Janty. Don't like that one bit.

Link to Gogo Cartomizer http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/188388-how-clean-rebuild-gogo-cartomizer.html

Doing an experiment I stumbled on a very easy way of cleaning a 808/901 DC Echo carto. I used a blunt tipped punch with a very thin shaft just long enough to get between the packing and the wall to the threaded end inside the shell. Holding the carto firmly in my hand I tapped gently on the punch and to my surprise the guts popped right out after a few taps. Once the guts are in the open the cleaning is a breeze just like your instruction illustrate. Once cleaned and replaced on the air tube per your instructions it's a simple task to insert it into the shell, place the threaded end on a firm surface, place a small piece of wood squarely on the mouthpiece end of the tube making sure everything is aligned and vertical and gently tap it into place.

About the most difficult part was getting the punch shaft between the packing and the wall without snagging the packing. I only had the one carto to experiment with but when I clean my next one I'll find a smooth surfaced nail a little longer than the carto to punch the threaded end out of the shell. Probably be a good idea to punch it out from opposite sides a little at a time to get it out evenly though mine came out by punching on the one side it bent the center air tube a little due to it being wedged against the wall from punching it out from one side.

Wish I had more to experiment with but perhaps some folks here with retired 808/901 Echo carts will see if my ease of getting the guts out was a fluke or if it works for them as easily as it did for me.

FWIW, unlike my last effort at taking an Echo apart and cleaning it, this time the result were to bring the carto back to like new condition. Unlike my last attempt where one coil was weak these were both bright red during the dry burn and the end result was well worth the effort.

Look forward to hearing back from some of you with questions or results.

I purchased a 5 pack in late Sept and still have two new ones left and am vaping two in rotation with three other units. The two originals are vaping pretty nearly like new. About all I've done is clean them with the syringe method until I took one apart the other day to clean and do a dry burn. I go through about 1 1/2 to 2 ml per day split between 5 vaping devices. The Echos continue to be the best vape of all the various vaporizers I've tried during the past 14 months. Not sure what you could do to expand the life of your Echos but I know from experience they are capable of much better than you are getting.

As for your "carto roulette" I find that numbering the various flavors with the same number on the carto, protecting the number with scotch tape as StartLifeEndLife suggested keeps mine organized.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions, everyone. I think it makes sense to lower the number of cartos in use, but I'm still vaping every flavor I can get my hands on and hate to limit myself :)
I assume I'll calm down at some point.

I received a confirmation email after my credit card was charged, took maybe 25 minutes for it to come in. Ordered on Sunday. Got a change of status to shipped notification early today, no tracking info though because I went with the cheapest shipping.

I had this exact same issue with my order, it turned out it was never placed by the janty site. I checked my credit card the next day and no charges went through so I reordered it....got a confirmation email right away the second time.

very strange company janty, very bad logistics all the way around.

Did y'all see the thread about the guy whose e-cig (probably a mod) exploded and took off part of his tongue & teeth in N.Florida? It has me worried about batteries in generally, but specifically the crappy quality chargers sold for our batteries. I'm less than impressed with the chargers for the Echo - they seem pretty flimsy. Does the low amperage (is that correct terminology?) of 150mah(?) protect us at all? I have no idea what I'm talking about, but hopefully somebody else does....

that's part of the protection. By not heating up the batteries during the charge they are safer. Now I'm happier then ever that these things have a short cutoff and don't let us use lr and dual coils. I remember at one time I stated that these don't need airflow through the battery and you can cover up the tips if you want. I take that statement back. They need to vent.
I'm also wondering if this led to the high failure rate of the stealth model.

The mod battery this guy may have been using, given that he'd been doing it for a couple years, may have been before certain safety measures have been put into these things like vent holes. It has been speculated that he put batteries in fresh from his charger and possibly backwards. A big no no. It's why you always hear to use protected batts in mods because they won't work backwards.

It's also why I've always warn people about these rapid chargers they make for egos. Rule of thumb: Feel the battery. If it's warm during use or while sitting on the charger.......STOP!

The point Charz made about the stealth fail is interesting. With my stealth, if I put my finger over the little hole, it wont work at all. I mean like barely put my finger over it and zip, nada, nothing. It would be so easy to get something in there that would toataly goof it up. That being said I still love 'em.

On a different note, I myself am not to worried about my bats blowing up. When your this ugly, Things can only improve.:p

Hmm, how does the kuwako I have in the mail factor into covering the "vent holes" on the led tip? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any airflow on the end of it, but haven't seen one up close yet.

I have a leather ego lanyard for my echo that has holes presumably for venting on the bottom side by the led. It also has a slot hole near the silver ring that I assumed was for a button, but is this also important for intake airflow?

Also, does anyone know if one of the lanyards with just a silver ring clasp for the ego will work on the echo? My only issue with the leather one is that it makes my echo look too much like an ego lol

The lanyard has just a c clasp, right? It's the right diameter, and if it's not, you can probably adjust the tension.

I think my kuwako order didn't go through after all. Still have to check my bank. Interesting point. But again.....just be aware. If the battery stays cool, it should be ok. If it's getting warm, take it off. My pipe mod idea with an open bowl is looking better and better. Just was hoping to go cheap on it. Hancrafted pipes are expensive!

Yeah, there's a local store that has them so I think I will have to try one out first!

My kuwako actually was in my mail box tonight! It has a lot of open space on the inside so I am thinking that may be enough to provide a blow out vent area.

Man this thing is classy. Very light weight, adds some tension when holding in mouth though. But when holding by the bowl it actually feels lighter than the echo without it.

It looks like if I just drill/punch out the janty logo in the top I would have an open bowl, but there is a plastic or metal cross brace in side that is providing horizontal support connected to, I think, the silver ring around the outside of the bowl.

I bought two so I "might" try it. But not right away as I would have to go to my buddys for the proper tools.

Now I'm looking for a leather holster that clips to my belt because the bowl makes for a quick draw from my lanyard, but you have to have it upside down in the holder, and it doesn't sit upright hainging from my neck but it is perfectly horizontal.

Last thought: I would hate this on a manual as the button pushing would be extremely cumbersome with the bowl attatched IMO
