Not sure how to word this. When I have a real smoke it's say, 5 minutes/20 drags or whatever. I .... it out & have had one smoke. I can say to myself "I just had a smoke 10 minutes ago, I better not have another one just yet." With vaping there's no "end of the smoke." I'm not sure what I'm asking. This is my first day. I'm even laying it in a real ashtray trying to trick myself into believing I'm smoking. Too bad it's a bright pink Kanger evod 2, lol.

Hello @Sherry7001 . 8 months later I still reach for my shirt pocket on occasion. You made me remember my first days without a cig.

This link is possible side effects of not smoking from the chemical withdrawl of cigs : https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...g-tobacco-and-changing-to-an-ecigarette.3305/

When I was trying to quit I used a cheap clearomizer/tank with the next higher nic in it. When the "itch" got to where the regular vape wasn't scratching it I would hit the higher nicotine tank once and go back to the regular nic vape. It usually took from 3 days to a week to get adjusted to the lower nicotine level. I said usually because I used this same technique to reduce my nicotine content in steps from the high level down to the under 3mg I now enjoy.

I kept one flavor of juice just for the mornings. Instead of reaching for the cig in the mornings I knew I had the one flavor juice I enjoyed waiting on me (a blueberry muffin type). After the morning vape I would not use this flavor for the rest of the day. What this did was to give me something to look forward to every morning instead of the cig.

Good luck in your journey.

Dont sweat it, main thing is stay off smokes....The transition might take awhile...If you have to chain vape all day long, dont worry....Once your off the smokes, could take a day, a month, a year....then you can worry bout getting off the vape....
I've been vaping for just over 6 months now and smokes mean nothing to me now but I can sit there and vape like a fiend if i really wanted too. Good thing is i can put it down for a few hours if i have too or want too...

My dad worked with a man who quit in 1964 (original Surgeon Generals report...) and was still absentmindedly reaching into his pocket 10 years later.

@ Sherry7001 Start keeping up with the money you are saving, it adds up fast! I have saved over $12,000 and my wife another $8,000 and we live in the state with the third lowest tobacco taxes in the nation.

Edit, make that $14,000 and $10,000! Have not run the math recently. Also changed my banner to one that keeps up with it for me:)

When I first started, I chain vaped like a fiend. It was necessary. It's a different way of doing things since there isn't a finite end to the session. When the cigarette is out, it's out. My vape can continue as long as there is juice in the tank. So I generally vape til I I put it down and forget it is there.

Sometimes I would actually say to myself "ok I'm going to have 15 puffs" I would count the 15 then put it down. For some reason it helped my transition putting a clear cut end to each vape. Now I don't really think about it.

Well, here's a little technical viewpoint on what's going on. I'll try to be brief.

Cigarettes have over 2000 chemicals in them. When you're addicted to cigarettes, you're addicted to more than just the nicotine. Add to the fact that with cigarettes, Ammonia is a common ingredient. That's used to slow down the process that nicotine is broken down by your body.

So, When you smoke, you're smoking several addictive chemicals... the nicotine stays in your body, and you don't feel the need to smoke for quite a while.. but the urge comes back, and it's pretty strong. When you Vape, you're typically vaping four ingredients... Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, And flavoring are non addictive. The nicotine that you do take in doesn't have the Ammonia or other chemicals used to "enhance" the nicotine's effect. So, you will want to vape more often.

Essentially, you have learned the habits of smoking through nicotine. Every time you smoke, your body expects nicotine. Mimicking those gestures helps some, and it's one of the reasons vaping, In my opinion, is a superior nicotine replacement over gums/lozenges, etc... It has a lot of similar aspects to smoking, but is MUCH safer. Keep trying.. for some, it's not an instant switch. It took me three months to totally stop cigarettes, but it did happen. I rewarded myself for vaping by allowing myself to vape indoors, but if I needed a smoke, I went outdoors. I went from a pack per day to 3 per day instantly.. and weened myself to none in three months.

Keep up the good work... get off those stinkies.

Yea, Cigarette taxes are low here in Ga. Look at my banner below... that was from a pack per day habit of smoking the cheapest I could get. What's not mentioned int he banner below, is the TIME... If it took me 5 minutes to go outside and smoke a cigarette, add the time I spent NOT smoking. Even if I went all shinyitis, and bought tonnes of mods, etc.. and the total was equal to cigarettes, time and health is still better with vaping.

I think this may have been the hardest part for me, smoking had in built time limits. I would measure my breaks based on how long it took to smoke x number of cigarettes. The other side of the same coin is that I no longer need to stop whatever I'm doing to go smoke. Even if I am somewhere I can't vape, when I go outside I can vape while doing whatever it was I came out for, and then put it down. No more stopping to finish that cigarette.

See, yes, No end. But hardly anyone sits there and chain vapes all day long.
My days usually look like this. If I am at work, or out with friends Ill stop every 1.5-2 hours for a 10 min chain vape break. If I am out by myself, I reduce that to every hour (We have strict guidlines about smoking outside.... only do it in designated areas. )

If I am at home, Such as now, I pick up my vape about 1 time every 20 min to 1 hour.... take 2-3 puffs, and put it down. no big deal.
When I lit a smoke, I was committed to that smoke. And sometimes i would sit there and not remember when I had the last smoke, so I would light another. Vaping, I couldn't care less when I last vaped, and niether should you!
As a matter of fact. I am going to take a few hits now. And so should you!

Happy Vaping!!
