The exploding battery issue has got me scared, what USB PT options do I have?

I know I'm being a bit paranoid but I'm wondering if there any 3.7 pt's that doesn't have the battery in-line?

I'm vaping 80% of the time in front of the comp and it might make sense.

The last battery explosion incident got me thinking I should try to conserve my batteries. I recharge them at least twice a day.

Can't seem to find a high-end passthrough.

Don't want 5v since I'll have to buy more atties. Just looking for a 3.7 so I can use the same atties as my on the go PV's.

Confused on what you want me to asses?

Looking for a PT so I don't rotate my batteries as much in my mods. I know they all have a chance to blow but if I use them less, the chance of blowing in my face reduces.

I vape 80% in front of the computer now a days. Before I was on the go so a PT didn't work for me.

At the rate I'm going, I chuck my batteries every yr (I mark how many charges they go through and chuck them well before they should blow since I don't trust them all to be fresh).

Hoping to save some money and further reduce the chances of things blowing up in my face.

Any recommendations for PT's?

Well the Provari supposedly has protection circuitry so you're safer than me on my all mechanical mods.

I just realized I sit in front of the comp (or stationary near an outlet) and switching to a PT might give me ease of mind/save on batteries. My parents look in horror when I throw out what they consider good batteries.

I've had a battery blow out on me from a charger before and not risking that ever again (non e-cig battery and my fault for overcharging).

Gargh, why they seem to be all 5v or 3.7 with a battery inline.

Interesting article on exploding battery on e-cig! Some of the periferial information in the article was a bit careless and seemed to be one sided; but you can decide for yourself! That being said an explodig battery is no joke and should be taken seriously!

I would assume using a PT with a battery inline has a higher chance of blowing. You're still stressing the battery and I have no way to keep track of charges.

I guess madvapes got rid of them.. I got mine last year.. Heres a link to one.. Can't vouch for the company but for under 10 bucks its a steal..

Thanks for the info. Need to read into it. Some people saying there is a battery that steps down the voltage. Blah more research.

Everyone just be careful - use protected batteries and above all - use common sense. Could this happen? Yes, but not all that often. I really think this is part of the scare tactics that the goverment/media is trying to use to get e-cigs banned! Did you notice how quickly this story spread like wildfire?

I think this article is going to give a lot of negative attention towards vaping and the vaping community. There is already information on the forum that discusses the dangers regarding certain set-ups. Which is linked to tube mods that have no vent hole.

Also, within that thread is another incident where someone was injured. So, I surely hope that people are doing the proper research and using e-cigs with effective safe gaurds (vents, vent holes, collapsible springs, safe chemistry batteries etc) that reduce the danger of this happening to another person.

Yes, I did notice how fast this story has spread. Even in the ECF.

Yes, I do follow proper battery maintenance (maybe to the point of overkill) but its costing me thus I want a PT.

All the PT's I've look at look filmsy. I was hoping for options for a well built PT so I don't charge/discharge my batteries any more than I need to.

In all seriousness even protected batteries can blow. Only thing I know to protect the battery is limit charge/discharge cycles.

Edit: You guys should check out the flashlight forums for more exploding battery stories. They even have one with a protected battery awhile back.

The biggest problem with passthroughs is the cord. Since a lot of them can be damaged after continual use. There are higher end PT's out there. For example:

Yes, even safe chemistry batts can blow. As well as batts in cell phones, etc. Nothing's completely safe but, there's very little chances of a these types of batteries can blow. Also, I just found out that the person that was injured used a e-cigar and not a mod.

Still think it does squat. Gives you 1-2 seconds notice to chuck the battery. Still have to roll and dodge.

Tube mods usually have vent holes on the bottom cap. Which let the gas escape if there was a problem with the batts. Others like a Madvapes VV box mod for example. Have a slit that's near the top of the mod. Lastly, with something like a REO then the squonk hole will also act as a huge vent hole.

Id like a ecig pt but my lil girl already broke the front usb port when something was plugged into it. It just would not last in my house. : ( Cheap too.
