Hey!
I was just wondering, have you guys heard of this guy James Lauria from Georgia and he was sent to the hospital with a hole in his mouth's ceiling, two front teeth pushed up into his gums, lower teeth broken, slight dislocation of his neck, first degree burns on his face. This "story" has been circulating around my country and it kinda pisses me off when some random dude or a friend of mine come to me and say "Good Luck, atleasts my ciggy wont blow up!" Or "You are smoking C4, dontcha know that?". And this dude who blew his face up told the media that i will tell everyone about this before the same thing happens to me. It is very dangerous. Excuse my french, his ......ed .... brain is dangerous. To me he is irresponsible to maintain his rig. Obviously the battery exploded. What do you guys think of all this fuss with this stuffs? How are you habdling this in your country? In malaysia everyone is against vaping. Period. But the vaping community is increasing. We dont promote because techhnically its illegal. But we do it anyways. The government claims e-ciggarettes are much more harmful and dangerous then regular smoking. Well.. Ofcourse because its not taxed... Yet...

Ben discussed a week ago.

Ecig "blew up" due to user error or better yet "carelessness"

He was using a hybrid mech mod and an Atlantis which is known to have short wobbly 510 pins.

So it wasnt the batteries
There are reasons that ketchup bottles and shampoo still have "instructions" on them....

Your not wrong there, haha

Nope. Subtanks and Hybrid mods are a big no no. Learned that the hard way, thankfully not at the cost of my face. Lots of battery acid shooting out though. This was around the time the Atlantis had just been released.

The Atlantis in general, I believe should only be used with a regulated mod.

If you haven't noticed, the last 3 stories to hit the news (including this one) all involve a mech of some sort and an Atlantis.

Correct me if i am wrong, hybrids are having its own atty right? So there is no 510's? So i wonder how this dude made his hybrid to have a 510 to support his Atlantis?

Yes, that's correct. The atty is making direct contact with the positive side of the battery. Works fine with most RDA's, just not tanks.

I have noticed that. I've run an Atlantis on a mech before, but none of the mechs I used were direct contact. Had no issues really.

Hybrid doesn't necessarily mean there is no 510.

All hybrid indicates, is that the positive pin from the atty is directly in contact with the battery

So generally tanks cant be made to be direct contact to the battery? Because it'll short circuit? Heat up? I wish mythbusters would do an episode on this.

When they explode it is the pressure released by the venting batteries into a mod with no vent holes, pressure builds up and the tube finally pops.

The batteries are doing exactly what they were designed to do not their fault the mod wasnt designed safely.

The rest is user error for not understanding what hes doing, what needs to be paid attention to and lack of knowing the potential issues with the mods and toppers he decided to use.

The type of contact on the Atlantis will short out the battery, causing it to rapidly heat up and vent.

To use a hybrid properly, your attys positive pin has to protrude further then the 510 threading and stay well isolated.

If not, the negative(510 theads) will also touch the battery directly... that would be a dead short, and dangerous

I am surprised the mod allowed to fire. Usually they wont right?

I love this site... I can ask anything and all is answered lol...

Actually, a true hybrid does not have a 510 thread at all; like what I am using right now:

3d rda on nemesis; no 510 thread. Big centerpin. Big insulator.

The fake hybrid has a 510 thread but no centerpin in the mod, and relies on the centerpin from the tank to contact the battery directly.
