While looking for a local place to buy some Stevia extract for my diabetic mother, I found loads of websites that refer to the FDA's fight against the stevia plant. This is something that has been used for decades without incident in other countries, but when American companies who "Pharm" low calorie sweeteners complained, the FDA cracked down on the safer alternative, even knowing that the "approved" items were dangerous. The same reasoning was being used there......no good studies......"Prove it's safe"......$$$$$, etc.

Theres a sunscreen additive, something which blocks more cancer causing sunrays, used for YEARS in Europe, and the UK, in sun creams and lotions without issues and approved by many of those country's versions of FDA (theyve tested it btw) which the FDA wont license here in the USA as its 'unsafe'. Except its not.
(I can't recall the name offhand, I have some of the sunscreen that I brought over from the UK, it might be mexoryl but Im not sure and Ive lost my oriignal link to the reports)

Yup, Mexoryl. I get it from Europe for my family (we live in SoCal). Money! Just like Stevia, St. John's wort and plenty of other ingredients. You can't make money out of common ingredients so they are either banned or ridiculed as old wives' tales.

Oh wow really you can't get St John's wort here? Its really good for mild depression, as long as you don't mix it with prescription meds (they dont get on well, all the places in UK you can buy it have a warning label about that part). I'm really surprised they banned a flippin' herbal remedy; its been around CENTURIES (dear FDA, over 100 years of testing by users should be enough no?) Jeez.

You can still buy St. John's Wort here in the U.S. Many herbal remedies are available, but of course, we are continually warned that they don't work, may not be safe, etc. Maybe they can't be banned, because I'm sure they would have been banned by now. After all, it's much safer to take a BP chemical concoction, with side effects, than a mild and natural herbal remedy. Right?
