I'm English, but still, just posted mine. At the end of the day, we're all in this together :toast:

Besides, what happens in America, does tend to set a trend for other countries over time.

Now there is only hope. Hope that the proposal will either be changed or if unchanged, will be rejected in part. But even if the worse happens, I really can see a reversal over time. It's just a shock to many that vaping has taken off so well, and I guess some people feel that they've lost the anti-smoking campaign. Actually they haven't. They've won, but not in the way they had expected, and not by the people they expected. It's turned out to be the very smokers themselves who have won the anti-smoking campaign. That must be hard reality to swallow.

Well said and thank you brother from across the pond!

In one of my comments I said that if the vaping industry was allowed to continue to flourish we could see the end of cigarettes in our lifetime. Wouldn't that be amazing? The smokers take their lives back and slaughter the tobacco industry!

Antony73, right now there is a gradual awakening in the U.S. to the "My way or the highway.", "We know what's best for you." attitude among our government officials is beginning to rub the general populace raw. People are finding out "It's for the children." is just a cover for corrupt governments/administrations to gain more control and to give favored businesses avenues to make more money and/or to rub out the competition.

Vaping and all it entails is just one of the many, many targets on their hit list. :( Thank you for making your voice heard. :)

Here's mine, feel free to plagiarize if you don't feel up to writing something. (Just take out the personal bits, each of us is unique)

Sirs, I am writing from Canada and as such realize that I may not have a lot of input into FDA regulation of the e-cigarette (Personal Vaporizer) industry, however as a smoking related cancer survivor, I felt it important to make a statement.
I was a smoker for over 40 years until I tried the personal vaporizer system. I had previously tried nicotine replacement therapies and smoking cessation drugs in several forms without success, even stage two kidney cancer in 1999 only got me off cigarettes for a month or so. (Happily I've recently been declared cancer free). Since starting to use a personal vaporizer I haven't had a cigarette in 6 months, my nicotine consumption through the liquid used has gone from 28 mg/ml to 8 and I expect to see that number fall to 0 within a year.

Since I started vaping, my family doctor has taken my off Spiriva which I used for COPD and has indicated his pleasure with the improvement in my overall health. My dentist has commented on the improved health of my teeth and gums, I myself have noticed a marked improvement in both my physical abilities and mental acuity, and credit my decreased intake of the secondary products of tobacco combustion such as tar, carbon monoxide, cyanide, benzene, formaldehyde or any of the other chemicals tobacco smoke contains. I agree the optimum solution would be to quit my nicotine intake entirely and ultimately that is my goal, but I urge you to consider the benefits of tobacco harm reduction as an alternative to outright smoking cessation.

I urge you to proceed cautiously with any legislation that would negatively impact a device that shows such promise for smoking cessation. Please review the growing body of scientific research that indicates the the use of a personal vaporizer with nicotine containing fluid is of benefit. The entire legitimate vaping community agrees that some regulation would be welcomed, i.e. sale to minors, use of USDA approved materials, nicotine delivery strengths etc. However I feel any legislation which would require extensive (read expensive) testing as a medical device or drug would prove to be a death knell for what has become a widespread cottage industry which simply cannot afford such extensive research.

In Canadian it's time to put up or shut up. In the words of my old drill sergeant it's time to GET UP OFF YOUR LAZY ASSES AND SPEAK UP!!!! Present submitters excepted of course.

Don't Mind?

I'd like to see this Thread Linked in a Banner on EVERY e-Cigarette Forum on the Globe.

And EVERY Vendor who Sells e-Cigarettes/e-Liquids should have this on the Top of their Web Sites. Seems like they Have Something to Lose Also.

Maybe More.

Good question, I don't know but as long as it has the case number leading your comment it will all be lumped under the same group of comments. When in doubt submit it again. ;)

If you have more than one email address, you can submit more than once using anonymous or just make up a name!! :););)

Bringing to the front (again!)...

Dear ECF members and visitors,

On August 8th the FDA will close the comments on its proposed deeming regulation.

This regulation will profoundly affect the future of the industry, and as it currently stands, this means 99% of available products are likely to be removed from the market.

So far, not nearly enough vapers have submitted their testimonies to the FDA, and it is essential that all who wish to see vaping remain a viable alternative for smokers.

That means you.

It needn't take long to comment, and I've put a guide on vaping.com, based on CASAA's latest call to action.

Please spend a few minutes composing your own comment. And remember, this really is your final opportunity to have your voice heard before the rule is made. Your comment is important as, by law, it has to be considered as part of the rule-making process.

Many thanks,

Oliver (SJ)

I just received this e-Mail from a Popular e-Cigarette Retailer...

---

FDA comments - Final Call
Submissions end August 8th, 11.59pm (EST)

Dear [Popular Retailer] Customer,

The comment period for the FDA’s deeming regulations ends this Friday, August 8th. We are making our voices heard here but it is imperative that the FDA hears from you, the consumers who these products have impacted!

The FDA has not attempted to analyze the size of the industry in its impact assessment, leading it to vastly underestimate the impact the regulations will have on US businesses and their customers.

As a customer you have a valuable role, you can directly submit their own experience, and this must be taken into account when the FDA issues their final rule.

Please, will you spend a few minutes today to compose your own response to the FDA? Have at look at an example write up by ECF Founder and Director Oliver Kershaw.

For your own comment, SFATA have issued an excellent guide for industry submissions: SFATA | FDA Guidance, Electronic Cigarette Association and the link to the comment page on regulations.org is here.

Many thanks for being a valued customer, with your support we hope to continue to change peoples’ lives, and create good American jobs.

Thank you for your time,
The whole [Popular Retailer] Family!

It is Nice that at least This Retailer has sent out an e-Mail regarding the End of the FDA Comment Period.

My latest comment to the FDA:

FDA Personnel,

We would all appreciate it if you stop saying that you know nothing about electronic cigarettes, and are "unaware" of any studies pertaining to their safety and patterns of use. I and several others have submitted many scientific studies to the FDA via these comments. We know that you are required to read each comment, and so you will see each and every study sent to you. Since you now have direct access to a wealth of knowledge regarding these devices, you may no longer use blatant ignorance as an excuse for unnecessary and biased attempts at regulation.

Kind Regards,
An Ex-Smoker

And I'm not done yet! It's not over til it's over!!
