I don't know how important it is that CASAA receive my comment number?? I emailed it but the email was returned. I quadruple checked that I had the email address correct too.
Done, with tracking number.
I wonder how many, if any, will actually appear?
Done, I think this is at least the second time I have both commented and I have also contacted elected Federal officials which I am going to contact again. This is the most ridiculous thing I have EVER seen to tightly regulate this industry! I can't think of a single reason other than the powerful lobbies of big tobacco who want to control the industry, just what we need, argh! The days of government being "of, by and for the people" are long gone I am afraid! People do need to absolutely deluge their congressional representatives with emails and phone calls about this, perhaps the ONLY way this will get turned around is pressure from Congress and believe me as someone who has lobbied Congress it does make a difference if enough constituents start complaining to their elected officials. They want to be re-elected more than anything and they know if people are upset enough over an issue that won't happen. So please, call and write your house and senate elected persons!
Unfortunately all of mine have flat out stated that they think e-cigs should be banned. I replied to all of them that since they allowed the legalization of that other substance and yet they want to ban something that helps people stay off cigarettes my faith in them will be reflected by my voting.
They then sent me a "save the children!!!!" reply to which I sad all those kids eating the brownies and cookies and candy made with that other substance is far more of a problem than e-liquids....no answer to THAT! *grumbles*
I'm sure that many more people submitted comments than posted in this thread. Other people have done such a nice job keeping it bumped up I felt no need to to say "Me too!" 'Till now.Hopefully the posting in this thread doesnt indicate the numbers actually leaving comments after seeing it here. The total number of comments does seem low considering the numbers touted for vapers in the US at 31,222 as listed on the FDA site but that is a respectable showing.
It isnt too late though to still leave comments, every additional one helps so if you have not left one yet then please do. As mentioned it is quite easy and only takes a few minutes to get it done.

But E-Cigs and Personal Vaporizers are two different things right?![]()
But E-Cigs and Personal Vaporizers are two different things right?![]()
Only difference is how you use the words to generalize the gear we use...at least that is my take. Their actual wording was "I'm afraid we have to agree to disagree on this topic. There is no scientific evidence showing that any benefit has come from these electronic devices and many studies showing great harm (????) so until such time as positive evidence presents itself I will have to support the removal of these items from general consumption."
I then buried them with study after study to which I received no reply other than the "think of the children!!!!" reply.![]()
Finally we agree on something SM. Good info.
PV = personal vaporizer. Commonly used to refer to a nicotine vaporizer or e-cigarette.
Herbal Vaporizer = a vaporizer used to vaporize the OIL content in plant material. These devices operate at a FAR higher tempreture than PVs as oil volatizes at a much higher tempreture than water.
To those considering the regulations on electronic cigarettes:
I am a 30 year old brass musician and student. I had been smoking for 8 years at the time that I discovered electronic cigarettes, through a kiosk at my local mall. The products there were the standard KR808D "cigalikes" that were popular for so many years. They cost something along the lines of $5 for what amounted to half a day's worth of not smoking. They tasted god-awful and whenever I would run out of battery power, I would go back to burning tobacco to move on with my day.
From there, I moved in the general motion you've seen from so many other people who have provided comments. I moved to a device that provided 3x bigger batteries, and a more convenient mechanism for filling them. Still, when the chips hit the fans, I would buy a pack of cigarettes to get me past the hump.
Then, I moved to a much more advanced device that used much larger batteries and allowed me to tailor the voltage I was aiming for to the liquid I was using at the time and my personal preferences. This device, unlike the smaller ones, also granted me a wide variety of safety features. No longer would I be afraid of my device melting or exploding in my hands if, for whatever reason, my heating element were to experience a short circuit. No longer would I be afraid of accidentally pushing far too much voltage into the heating element and burning my throat. That device was the L-Rider Lavatube, and it came out in 2011. This was the first affordable variable voltage vaporizer, coming out four years after your cut-off on new devices.
Since that point, US companies like Evolv and Provape have come out with newer and safer evolutions on the circuitry of electronic cigarettes. Companies like Mister-E-Liquid have started a self-regulating cottage industry in the production of eliquids that has, as data has come to light, rejected potentially dangerous flavoring components. As one example, diacetyl is no longer used by reputable eliquid vendors due to health concerns over the possibility of bronchiolitis obliterans. The cottage industry has been enormously successful, as well.
In CT, the brick and mortar location E Six Vapors has expanded from a small two person shop to two locations, each of which employing at least six employees. Passing these restrictions would unemploy those twelve people, as well as tens of thousands across the country, overnight.
People switch from smoking to vaping for a number of reasons. Health is one of them. Since switching entirely from tobacco to electronic cigarettes, I have noticed that I have much more energy and that my lung capacity (judged while playing the bass trombone, a very air-intensive instrument) has been greatly improved.Flavor is another. I am an adult, and yet I, like many other adults, enjoy a sweetened-flavor on my eliquid. That is why people make things like strawberry-creme flavors, to appeal to llike-minded adults. I have never seen electronic cigarettes marketed to children, but if you are concerned about such, address it through marketing restrictions rather than through flavor restrictions that will drive people back to their combusted tobacco products. From there, there's a number of other advantages that electronic cigarettes provide. The lack of the obnoxious scent of burnt tobacco sticking all over one's clothes provides a distinct advantage when seeking employment for oneself. If I were forced to go back to an unsafe, short-lived, bad-tasting electronic cigarette product (as it will be impossible for most companies to be able to go through the path-to-market you outline), I fear that I would wind up going back to smoking tobacco cigarettes again. I very much do not want to do that, as it makes every aspect of my life worse. My happiness, my health, and my prospects of finding employment.Thank you for your time.
Yeah, I use e-cig as a general term as in my state the other is seen very often.
