In the last month one of my cards was compromised.

Luckily I keep track of my purchases almost daily. I caught it the day it started. Mine was a visa/debit card. My credit union said they'd seen an upturn lately on these type of things. They canceled the card and issued me a new one.

I contacted the vendors and told them it was a fraudulent use of the card and the transactions were canceled/refunded. Otherwise visa would have reimbursed me.

There are sooo many ways for your info to be hacked. I wouldn't blame it on an e-cig merchant. The info could have been hacked from anywhere.:2c:
RIMP:evil:

however, if the only sites used to make purchases were e-cig related, that really narrows it down

If you have a concern and know specifically which vendors that you have dealt with you can send me an email (NOT a PM) and I will contact the vendors to make them aware of the concern.

Understand that we are providing this as a service and are only acting as a messenger. ECF is first and foremost a venue for the discussion of ecigs that also allows suppliers to maintain forums and do promotion of their products within the confines of specific areas. We assume no responsibility for this type of activity as it is conducted on site not owned nor controlled by ECF.

I can be reached at elendil@e-cigarette-forum.com Again, these types of issues must be sent via email as I will not respond to PM's related to this issue.

EDIT: I should add that I will only contact those suppliers that are Registered Suppliers or Forum Suppliers on ECF. If the supplier in question is neither, it will fall to you to contact them directly.

If you've had to close 3 accounts, I'd be pointing my finger at my own internet security.

Just my two cents.

Nope, I'm extremely meticulous about making sure everything is up to date and in addition to active anitvirus, I scan at least once a week. I use a router firewall, software firewall and antispyware. I'm also the only one that uses my computer and no kids in the house, just my wife. I had a hint of doubt until the card that has been used only for ecig purchases was hit.

Mine too, was compromised just last month. :(
It was also used to purchase world of warcraft gmaing stuff in washington state and ca.....
I got refunded so no biggie but it was not only a hassle, but a lil scarey not knowing at first how it would all turn out. My bank notified me as soon as the third "funny transaction" happned by email and got a vall that next morning. Sucks but I now have more faith in my bank that they really DO look after me while I sleep at night ;)

Same here... I've been working online for a long time and am extremely careful. I'm the only person that uses my computer. My husband has his own.

I had it just happen too but I have used so many vendors it would be extremely bad for the innocent vendors because of one sleezebag. My bank is working on finding the culprit and beings I got my money back I'm going to let them do their jobs. When I have concrete proof then I'll post a name. It has taught me a good lessen and thank god it wasn't an expensive one. No money was lost on mine because my bank caught it in time. You need to figure out a more secure method for online purchases if it's happened three times. Kasperski catches them keyloggers as soon as they start but I have two security systems running just for security.

well i've had the same card number for 12-13 years and just started vaping last month and guess what? checked my back account last night and found out that i had just spent a couple hundred dollars with norton......

lol a stolen cc# to buy security?

i would have to agree with the op and alot of responses here, someone has a problem.

is there a reason we can't mention what vendors we have used? not trying to hurt them but it would be nice if we could find out where this is coming from.

I'll have to second that.

First step is to stop using Internet Exploder. If you don't have a firewall and virus protection when connected to the web...you can assume your device is compromised.

Software firewall behind a hardware firewall is even better.

The modem that came with your service....have you changed the default passwords and turned off wireless access? If wireless access is enabled, is it password protected or is it like my neighbors?

I can access at least 5 wireless networks from my house, and I'm in a small town.

I don't think it's a firewall problem. My wife orders stuff all the time from my computer with a different card than I use for my ecig supplies and her card has never been compromised. Mine has been taken twice in the last two months! It was replaced on June 10th and the new number was stolen again last week. I only used that number to buy stuff from three ecig suppliers. It's definitely the security on one of those sites.

Could someone PM me with the vendors they believe are causing this issue. I'm new and have thus far only placed one order with no problems (as far as I know). I'm ready to place a couple of new orders now and I'm afraid to because I don't want my cc stolen.

I won't do that because I don't want to turn you off to the three venders on my list. It's not their fault and they are all good, fair business people. I will suggest that people do what I'm doing and run out to just about any store and buy a Visa gift card in the amount you think you need when you're going to place an order. That way there's nothing to steal.
