Dude?! Why oh why, is there a picture of Joffrey on this page? Just kidding LOL. Dude, I am giving a big shout-out (for one reason or another) to OSHA (the wildling) for taking care of Bran and possibly the rest of Winterfell!

Arya's got one more...

THEON GRAYJOY is on the my HITLIST!

Oh, joy, GOT love!

I followed this thread over from the "70/30 User.." thread instead of chiming in there, so I hope you don't mind me crashing in but I wanted to respond to the suggestion that Arya might use her remaining death for Joffrey or his vile mother- I don't think so. I think she'll want to kill those two herself, or save them for another Stark. She has a warrior heart- an assassin's death for her most hated foes wouldn't work for her.

I haven't read the books, but I'm itching to. I keep holding out because the show is so good, I'd hate to spoil it for myself, but on the other hand it is so cruel to make us wait a whole week between episodes. I may not be able to resist.

Love the show, I'm reading the second book right now. Ohai, they won't ruin the show for you, I promise. If anything it makes all the politics and fractions easier to understand. You won't be disappointed.

Well, I hope you're right, 'cause I went ahead and got the first book, and will probably be starting it in a half an hour or so. Which probably means no sleep for me. Oooh, I think I'll vape some black licorice juice with it...

Do not give up on the books. Yes, they are long but they really pick up the pace nicely. I'm about halfway through the 3rd book, and about 5 episodes into the second season. The show makes a lot more sense now that I know what is happening. There's just so much more information in the books that you just cannot fit into the show.

Also after having read through the first couple books, I have to say that they are doing a really good job of the show so far.

So, it's not medieval fantasy, it's a political thriller with soft porn in between.

It's both. Later on more of the typical fantasy elements play bigger roles (magic, dragons, etc.), but characters and political scheming are always sort of the main thing happening. It never even goes near the usual fantasy cliche stuff (dwarf, elf, reluctant regular guy, and mysterious, fireball shooting wizard all on a quest to stop the dark lord).

I'm only a few chapters in, it's not impressing me so far. I'll give it a few hundred pages.

It gets better. In the beginning a lot of time is spent introducing you to the characters, settings, and different plots. There are a lot of them, and I know it seems a bit overwhelming at first, but it does get better IMO.

I read the first four books before the TV series had even been heard of. Read book 5 as soon as my local library had it available. I spend hours per week on towerofthehand.com studying all sorts of things that have to do with the storylines of the books AND the TV series.

For the most part , the TV series has been spot on to the books. There are, of course, a few changes... Asha Greyjoy, anyone??? In the books, it is also only hinted at that Renly and Loras might be more than "friends" and Margery is an innocent, still, when with Renly.

Everyone I know despises Joffrey for good reason, and they all really like Tyrion. All in all, the books and TV series earn 5/5 stars from me.

Here and back
Very addictive show. I DVR them so I can re-watch the previous week right before the current week, more than just the recap given by the show lead in.

I guess I'll get the books, I'm quickly lost or confused by many of the names. Perhaps I can find a score card somewhere to keep track of the characters.

All I have to do is see "I read the books" and I can't read the post. I quoted it here, but I can't read it. Too much of a chance some inadvertent spoiler may slip. Can't take the chance TigerLadyTX. Luckily, I can just look at your avatar...
