I still don't vape in public. I've tried a few times, and always get the "stink eye...you're a piece of crap" look (mainly from women). Men just want to talk about what I'm doing which I don't care to discuss or make small talk about. Not that I care what people think, but hopefully it will be more socially acceptable soon. Nobody blinks an eye if people light up a cig but God forbid they see someone vape.

Funny, here in Cali Bay Area, you can get the death penalty for smoking a cigarette. Fire up a doob and everybody loves you. vape, and you are often the only one considered a minority in this totally multiracial area.

But when I vape in public I can do it in such a way that most people don't even notice, if I take just a fraction of an effort to keep it on the downlow. Can take a hit and have it back in my jacket pocket before it even catches the eye of most. Have let out a cloud from time to time and see people looking at me wondering where the giant .... is.

I think this varies a lot by location. Here in Dallas, I vape in public all the time, and most of the time, nobody seems to care or notice except for a few people who are interested in the usual "Does that really help you quit, how much do they cost, where do you get one" kind of questions.

I should note that the Dallas/Ft Worth area has a *ton* of local vape shops, and that probably means a lot of people vaping, so when a non-vaper sees me doing it, it likely isn't the first time they've ever been exposed.

Arizona will let you do anything, but if I see someone being obnoxious about it, I'll go talk WITH them and ask they at least blow towards the floor if nothing else.

I totally agree. The DFW area is pretty relaxed about vaping overall.

Most questions from strangers seem to be like "did you really quit smoking using that?"

I vape in public all the time. I vape everywhere actually. I've never noticed anyone with an issue though....then again, I haven't looked. I don't give a rats .... what people think anyway. Leave me alone and I'll leave you alone.

Plus, people don't usually confront a 6'4" 250# biker flying colors....LOL...when I enter most folks look "busy" doing other things. I've even had women gather their kids and rush out. It's funny...'cause if they actually knew me....I'm harmless....

Texas, yeah, I'm not in the DFW area, but it's pretty laid-back here. Not a huge amount of vapers in our town, but it's common enough that I think most everyone knows what it is. Some of them don't really know much about them, but they do know what e-cigs are. I don't get many "looks". If I do, I guess I don't know it. I just do what I do where it's allowed and don't pay attention to whether someone is staring or not.

People can still smoke cigarettes here in some places. There are a couple of bars/clubs here, smoking included. We have at least three locally-owned diner/restaurants that still allow smoking. The county jail allowed employee smoking at least until the last sheriff retired at the end of 2012 (he smoked). Not sure what the policy is now. There is no smoking on city police property, schools, parks, hospitals, grocery stores, etc. But vaping seems to be a non-issue. Patients in the hospital here can vape, but the employees can't. Denney's, Red Lobster and I.H.O.P allow vaping (so far). Our 25-ish granddaughter even vapes (discreetly) in Wal-Mart, but I don't push that envelope myself. I have a feeling if they ever see her, she'll get a warning of some sort.

Newspaper article here this past week hints that measures are pending to make our town totally non-smoking in public places in the near future. I hope vaping isn't included.

But for now, Welcome to Texas!

Seems that human nature lends itself to let the masses desire a "witch hunt" of some topic or another. Be it the actual witch hunts from the 1700's, The Prohibition, The Commie Invasion of the 50's, and Vaping today. Bring up a new topic/item that has little general knowledge available to the masses and the "hunt" is on to decimate those who are offending the "intellegence" of said masses by actually knowing the truth of the matter.....
