hardly any vapers here in Toronto ... nobody seems to care :2cool:

Can confirm. At most I get questions from curious folks when I'm on a vape break at work. I've had a few customers stop and ask about my PV, and even if I'm not in a chatty mood I'll explain it.

I've already converted one, and pointed another in the right direction to get started. Last week I was told our produce manager wants to quit smoking. He's been told to come and see me *lol*

I've gotten the stink eye, but I don't think they even realize I'm vaping. They're the typical, NYC, anti cigarette crowd who sees smoke and are afraid of be contaminated. They don't bother to see where it's coming from. They're too busy pulling their shirts up over their noses and waving their hands around in case a molecule of something that looks like smoke touches them.

That is very true. People don't much seem to mind when I vape but try to make the best use of your time multitasking during one of your kids Open House night by field stripping and cleaning your Glock and everyone thinks you are a homicidal nut case.

Here in my small town I don't know any full-time vapers besides myself. I know a few people who have tried it and vape a little at work where smoking isn't allowed, but as far as I know they still smoke analogs primarily when away from work. I vape at home, in the car, and at my desk at work (discreetly though, my office mates know I do it and don't care, but I try and do it stealthily anyway, to not cause a distraction. Everyone in my office are non-smokers). I have never vaped in public such as in stores or that type of thing. I think I would be way too self-conscious to do so, and also I am so proud of being 4 years smoke-free that I would die if I thought someone actually thought I was smoking again, so I keep it on the down-low.

Plus, people don't usually confront a 6'4" 250# biker flying colors....LOL...when I enter most folks look "busy" doing other things. I've even had women gather their kids and rush out. It's funny...'cause if they actually knew me....I'm harmless....

But I thought you were Fred Garvin-Male Prostitute. Not a biker!

But back to vaping in public-I openly vaped last night at my favorite bar. I asked if it was ok first. Bouncers said yes, that lots of people do it and they don't have a problem with it. So vaped away as I drank my birthday pitcher of beer. I didn't see anyone else vaping, and only got 1 dirty look from some girl who was wearing way too much makeup and had a sour look on her face anyway.

I don't care. I say as long as the establishment is ok with it, don't worry about everyone else.

I'll vape pretty much anywhere at any time... I hit a local bar with friends once a week for a beer and wings, the owner doesn't care if I vape but it's interesting to see peoples faces. Tend to inhale and hold it so not much is exhaled. Went out to play pool last night, stood outside with the smokers and had a vape for old times sake.

Other than friends i've turned into vapers, I don't see anyone else around that vapes. Maybe they hide it well or maybe i'm just not looking.

Just don't be the guy / gal in public who thinks they are being sneaky but in reality you aren't being sneaky..... Just acting shady.
I stood next to 2 other vapers in a crowd once and at the first sign of a cop, all but me immediately stuffed their devices into their pockets. Guess who caught the cop's attention first?
Just act natural and own it. Someone once said:
"People that mind don't matter, and people that matter don't mind."

If you don't care what people think, why do you choose not to vape in public? It's ok to care what people think, I do. Everyone does at least a little, even people who say they don't. I used to feel weird about vaping in public for the exact reasons you are describing. Now I vape anywhere I please (application of common sense and decency).

I still care what people think, just not what they think about me vaping a huge box mod.

It's not that I care what they think, I'm just not fond of making a conversation out of it.

you dont have to care what people think. i certainly dont care what they think. if someone was to come at me with a problem with me vaping in public, i would tell them politely. would you rather me be vaping this in public? or would you rather me pull out my butane lighter, light up a stinky that has too many harmful chemicals to name at the moment and have that wandering in the air? people are so ignorant sometimes they see the vapor and automatically assume that it's the worst thing in the world. i dont mind the small talk. i just tell them in short it's a vaporizer. yes theres nicotine but NO there isn't formaldehyde, paint thinner, fiberglass and countless amounts of other things included with a stinky, not too mention some people just flick them around instead of properly disposing of them which makes the area smell putrid with stinky butts

I'd actually love to make conversation with the type who run past me with their shirts over their noses and explain that I'm not blowing tar and smoke, but they're moving too fast usually. It's as though they believe they'll get cancer by merely walking past a smoker. Never mind the fact that more then once I've seen one run into a parked but running truck blowing some sort of nasty, great smoke from the exhaust. As if that's better?

I'm pretty much a unicorn around here, I've gotten the occasional "What the heck is he doing there" look as I drive past people vaping, but never an outright hairy eyeball that I've noticed.

Of course, I don't really pay that much attention because I really don't give a crap what people think.

"People that mind don't matter, and people that matter don't mind."

I'm stealing this!

No hairy eyeballs in New Orleans! A few WTH? followed by eeww! in St. Louis and a couple "is that what I think it is/yes-no".

The biggest fake coughers, hand wavers and whiners was on a cruise ship out of New Orleans last summer. The cruise paper even added e-cigs in with the smokers on the daily paper but it wasn't like that when I booked my cruise so I was grandfathered under my terms.

I'm going on another cruise in a couple days with a different company. I expect the same fakes & whiners because of the typical demographic of cruisers but I'm willing to bet there will be a lot more vapers, too.

I do have to agree with Ohms Breaker about Californian's & smoking. We were in Oceanside 5 years ago and those people would literally cross the street if they saw you with a cigarette & walk backwards to glare at you. San Diego was ok but north from there, all the way to Oceanside I got hairy eyeballs, fake coughs, upturned noses & just down right evil glares! It was the most unfriendly place I have ever been.

Tina, you are much better off in your beautiful city. Run down to Daytona & hang with the bikers for me!
