Thank you my friend. :) I thought I was going to have to wait for it to come out in paperback. :) Broadband just isn't practical where I live or I would have had it long ago. 8-o

Stormy, have you tried wireless broadband yet? I live in an underpopulated, rural county, out in the county, not in town... I thought I would never be able to get internet out here. I finally got internet when I got wireless broadband. It is awesome. There are several wireless broadband providers. Just check out the one that is most common in your area. For me it was Verizon. It ain't cheap, but it is better than nothing. And unbelieveably better than dial-up.

I have tried and it isn't available in my area. We barely have cell phone coverage here. Every time I hear of something new I am calling and asking about it. It gets so discouraging.:cry::cry:

Ummm... wireless broadband is like buying a cellphone. It's not like the broadband that you get from your landline phone service provider. It is a little thingy/dongel that you plug into a USB 2.0 port. (after installing the software first and doing the setup) You can move it from one computer to another and you can take it with you when you travel.

I also barely have cell phone coverage here. For some weird reason, my wireless broadband thingy gets better reception than my cell phone does. The reason why I went with Verizon is because it has one of the largest networks in the nation. You should be able to get wireless broadband anywhere you can get a cell phone signal. I'm pretty sure that AT&T and Sprint/Nextel have wireless broadband. You oughta check it out. Once you have broadband, you'll never go back. Another cool thing about wireless broadband is that you can take it with you wherever you go. I just yank the thingy/dongel off my home computer and toss it in my laptop bag when I travel.

Who are you calling and why? Go to BestBuy or some other big-box electronics store that sells cell phones or go to a cell phone store... That's where you buy the wireless broadband thingy. It is exactly like buying a cell phone. You have to sign up for a contract though... Mine was a two year contract. I think that Boost might have pay as you go wireless broadband, too. (just not sure about that. One of the carriers has the pay-go wireless broadband)

Unfortunately there are certain areas that still do NOT have any coverage. I had this trouble once. I moved two streets over and could not get cable internet. They just did not offer it on that particular street. I had to go with another ISP. Not happy.. but those are the breaks. Keep squaking Stormy and you will eventually get what you want.... The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I am not sure. It is way better than dial up. How can I find this out about my connection? The speed of my connection?

Google Cnet internet speed test. Run the test. It is the first one that comes up. Mine is running at 520 this morning. It doesn't seem faster than it was but that is what the test shows.
