The Gulf Oil Disaster: Predicted in Revelation?

The book of Revelation does certainly mention toxic contamination of the sea. What do you think? When John was given these visions in revelation, he was shown red water. When oil hits oxygen, it turns into a reddish color. I can't say for sure if this oil spill is what John sees in his visions, but it sure is interesting.

Revelation 7:2-3:

And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Revelation 8:9:

And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

Revelation 16:3:

And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

Yea, I guess if you believe in the rapture. But I really am not sure about that.

thanks lisa just found this place..Tim lehaye and Jerry jenkins have a real good read called end times it gives there perspective of a time line of revelation.because the bible is not chronological they break down events in order so you can understand them better.Gave my copy away about a year ago wish id kept it..Oh well it was a blessing gift.thanks cliff

Oh, I"m in the middle of their Left Behind series, what a great read those books are. I just googled it and found the book you are talking about, it's online if anyone wants to read it online for free. Here is the link Are We Living in the End Times? - Google Books

I live on the gulf in florida. I don't know how much they are reporting in other areas, but I can tell you that it's really bad. The oil has already started to come ashore in the panhandle here, and is expected to be all over the florida coast in the next week. If a hurricane comes this year, it will be deadly because the hurricane will throw the oil over the land. There is already dead dolphins covered in oil coming up on the shores and the dead birds covered in oil too in LA already. It's like something out of a horror movie.

Now here is the interesting thing. In revelation John saw 1/3 of the water contaminated and 1/3 of the ships. Well, 1/3 of the gulf is now contaminated and the authorities have now said that 1/3 of the gulf is off limits to all ships. It's kind of like a quarantened area now that is 1/3 of the gulf. Weird huh? Maybe John was shown the gulf and he saw the 1/3 contamination. Maybe it was not all the oceans of the world, but just the gulf of mexico. Who knows.

For the believer if we stand ready and look to the east we will know what others don"t.I'm sorry for the wildlife it's sad.If my wife was reading this she would cry.Not that I'm not upset but she catches moths or wasps in the house with a glass and saucer and lets them go.I finally heard them say that no matter when it's contained this will be devastating economically and ecologically for years to come.

Yes, that's right. We know these things have to happen as they were written. It's like growing pains that we have to endure. Every terrible thing that happens on this earth brings us one step closer to our lord and savior coming back. We have to keep our eye on the prize, but at the same time, we must be aware of what's going on around us.

Something else that is really interesting. LA banks are completely covered in oil now, it's a dead zone now. Where is the help? NOBODY IS THERE! The only people there trying to do anything are the residents. Where is the government help? Where is the help from BP? Nobody is there! There were several ships loaded with booms that were supposed to be deployed to save the coast, and the ships were abandoned and the booms never put up! Nobody is doing ANYTHING to save the coast lands, and now LA is completely destroyed. Florida is next, and nobody is here either, nobody is doing ANYTHING to prevent the oil from coming ashore.

Am I the only one who thinks that's a little bit strange?
