Anything that survives the rebuilding with a red glowing coil and wick - and can live in a concoction of PG and nicotine - is a worthy adversary for my immune system.

Made me laugh. Well said WW.

I wear gloves when re wicking. I work with dirty, dirty materials daily and even though I SCRUB my hands I just feel better wearing gloves but I am a tad OCD. I personally think anything on that coil will be burned off the first time I fire it lol.

No harm in that TO. If it makes you feel better, then do it, and don't let anybody else tell you otherwise. It's not like it's affecting them in any way.

Ye. My buddy at the vape shop I hang at said thats over the top. I just dont want whats possibly left over on my hands after a hard day at my job getting on my wick. I have a little fold-pouch thing with persion screw drivers, ceramic tweezer, wire cutters and two pairs of pliers along with a bunch of gloves and thats my re build kit I take out with me. I have all that stuff on my vape bench as well but thats my out and about kit. I do a lot of building at the shop. For myself and others.

I didn't even know this was an issue! Funny the stuff you start to contemplate on ECF. So I don't think the likelyhood of vape-introduced germs is any higher than breathing contaminated air, or the fact that the average person touches their face/mouth about a thousand times a day. What I think is more likely is how vaping might affect the immune system in the lungs (sterile equipment or not). It seems plausible that the constituent parts of e-liquid could promote a decrease in pathogen clearance and may hinder ciliary function. I guess once again we'll have to pin our hopes of enlightenment to Dr. Farsalinos.

I'm going steadfastly hope that the combination of e-liquid and high wattage creates mutant pathogens that feed on tar and restore the natural function of lung tissue. Could be marketed in a new RDA called The Fountain of Youth. Clone to follow shortly there after!

I started wiping my wires with 70%+ alcohol before making a coil after i began experimenting with temp control and titanium wires.
It gets rid of the drawing oil that was used in the production of the wire.

Taste wise it is less noticable with Kanthal when dryburned, but it has a fairly nasty taste on other wires like Titanium or Nickel.
Wiping the wire leaves a good amount of black marks on the cloth/vapertowel so i figure degreasing the wire might be better than burning it off as that may leave residues.
The amount of oil found on wires seems to vary by type and vendor but so far it's been on all of them.
