I prefer Maya to Max as well.. the interface just clicks with me better.. it actually clicks pretty well, it shouldn't be too hard for me to pick up once I have the time to give it. I've played with Scuptris, I had a blast, it works in tris though and the rendering programs I use want quads so it's of limited use to me for my current work, though I could use it with x-normal to make normal or displacement maps I guess. I've poked at z-brush but it utterly confused me, but I was also trying to use it for 3D projection painting and the model I was using has overlapping UVs which z-brush couldn't deal with. I use Blacksmith 3D for projection painting now but it's quite a clunky program.3d Max is another (the most?) popular choice to use in place of Maya, though I prefer Maya. Z-brush is definitely the way to go for sculpting, though Pixologic, the makers of Z-brush also have a free sculpting package called Sculptris.
I've thought seriously about selling on Squid.. do you think it would hurt me a lot to only have .obj format though?
About 8 years now, 7 on 3D stuff, the first was all just photoshop. Add a couple years towards a fine art degree and a couple semesters at a tech school for game design. Sad thing is, one of the best technical colleges in the country is 15 minutes from my house and they offer a full degree in game design. Timmy has a degree in network security and administration from there.. I would enroll in a heart beat but I can't afford the tuition. (Link) $44k a year.. ugh.I'm sure you have spent more time self training than alot of people with degrees have sitting in desks. Maybe with your passion and skills you will get your just due one day. I understand having to make sacrifices though, I always put my wants secondary too. Part of growing up and being responsible darn it! Keep up the great work.
As for responsibility.. I'm doing it for love and for karmic payback right now. My ex husband supported me for the 5 years we were together, he gave me the time I needed to learn all this stuff. I found myself and I found my passion. Now I am doing it for Timmy so he can find his calling. His parents are willing to pay for a CCNA boot camp for him (not that I think he really needs it, honestly) he could get his certifications and get a job that could comfortably support us both within a few months if he wanted to but he honestly doesn't know what he wants to do. He's still young, only 26, I'm giving him the time he needs to figure it out. He absolutely adores video games so we're going to start there sice I already know thats where I want to go.

Yes, it's a noticeable difference.Do 650's really hit that much harder? Don't have any 650's so I've never tried them. I figured volts are volts :/. Gonna have to shop again.
