Those in the know may be proving me wrong but my understanding was the change from v1 to v2 was just a directional switch on the lockring. I thought the 2.1 was the new switch, and they where originally all going to be gunmetal but it turned into a PITA so the last two batches are bare allum again.

if you look farther back in the thread they used to call them the new switch and the new new switch lol.

I do remember the v1 rattled with AW IMR 18650, the v2 didnt, and the V1 unlock spun the same way removing the switch from the bat tube did so I would occasionally start to unscrew the switch a bit trying to lock until I noticed it.

Only the absolute latest run of the v2.1 has the new, new switch. I thought there were 4 switches altogether. v1, v2 the new v2 that started with the Illuminate and some of the v2.1's and the current new new with the recessed button. Standards were being made all throughout so they can have any of the locking switches depending on when they were made.

Can anyone say what the difference was between the original v2.1 switch and the newer locking switch made starting from the Illuminate up until the Hell Raiser?

Lol.

oh god that stuff is nasty as hell. I remember having to do that when I was pretty young. They told me it tasted like Sprite. Nope, not even close.

Lol.

The last one to hit Yuma was the V2.2 new switch, back to bare aluminum... Ok I am tired of typing about switches now... lol

This thing has been so iterative that there are really blurry lines between what people are calling v1, v2, v2.1... I've been here from the start and even I don't know. If you pushed him, I'll bet even Faceless wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answer. There was a prototype. There was the "Original 50" and then he started fiddling. A little change here, a little change there. I see all of you guys trying to define a difference and I have to admit I chuckle a little each time I see this discussion start. I'll just call it a hard hitting fog machine. Good buy, Strout!

In fact, I can think of five different versions of the switch!

I'll take Grruss as law on this lol, I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong and learned a lesson thanks :p

I'm going to try and make some money while vaping my v5 Ihy now lol

There was at least one run of standards with the "new switch" right before he started doing the recessed button. The Illuminate had the "new switch" in question, which was newer than the v2.1 switch that came before it. I only remember because the confusing posts abounded at the time asking if the newer v2.1 would have the "old new switch" or the "new new switch" lol.

So, which one is the 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 or 2.1.3?

Btw, got some 200 mesh with my latest order of 500 from the mesh co. Decided to try it and MY GOD it wicks amazingly... Like better than the 500.

I've had nothing but problems with anything higher than 400. Dunno if its how I'm rolling, or what, but I found that for my purposes and my 50%+ VG juice, 325 is my sweet spot.

500 and up tends to clog really easily (small holes  ) so it tends to work better unoxidised w/ an insulator petar k style. mine wicks perfectly w/out even having to tilt, as long as i dont oxidise it  if i do even one juice burn on it or over oxidise it it will barely wick
