This device has been kicked around here for over half a year now. The problem with it is that it gets so hot the e-liquid is burns right up and the flavor with it. That is why they sell the heavy molasses based flavors. The unit would be a viable alternative if it had a temperature control on it for our regular e-lquid.

Hmmm . . . that's not been my experience at all when I use cotton in the chamber and add a few drops of eliquid. Typically, I add 3-4 drops of eliquid and then 1-2 drops of glycerine, and that will last me 15-30 minutes of vaping on the iIolite depending on how frequently I inhale.
Basically, I got the Iolite awhile back as my ultimate insurance policy. With e-cigs, you have 3 issues to deal with in the event of a ban--batteries, atomizers, and liquid. The batteries can be addressed with mods that use "regular" batteries, and the liquid can be addressed if one goes no nic and does DIY. The biggest weak link (aside from problems getting liquid with nicotine) is the atomizer . . . just no viable substitute out there right now.
With the Iolite, there is no atomizer--just a metal bowl that is heated. Likewise, no battery--butane operated. Originally designed to vaporize "herbs," the Iolite can be used with liquid. By adding cotton to the bowl and then adding a few drops of liquid on the cotton, the liquid doesn't burn off as quickly.
The mess using liquids with cotton is practically non-existent. Simply remove the spent cotton with tweezers, repack, and start again. If you vaporize tobacco or molasses, the mess is, imo, substantial unless you wrap them first in foil . . . and I just find that kind of difficult. Plus, I don't find the vape as satisfying with the molasses or tobacco as compared to the liquid . . . even if I add a few drops of liquid onto the molasses. But that's personal preference.
As I see it, the downsides are:
1. The unit gets warm . . . VERY warm. In fact, it got so warm that it kind of freaked me out at first. I don't feel comfortable just laying it down on a table while it's in use. I put it in a bowl or glass to hold it while it's on and not sitting in my hand.
2. It makes a hissing noise as butane is being consumed to maintain the device's temperature. That hissing noise is a few seconds long and comes on every few minutes. It can be disconcerting at first, but you quickly get used to it.
3. It's larger than almost any type of e-cig out there. I'd say it's about the size of a cell phone. Between the size and the occasional hissing, well, this is not what I would consider a "discrete" vape. I don't use it in public.
4. While it will put out vapor within about 30 seconds of being turned on, it produces its most flavorful vape after it's been on for about 5 minutes.
5. The butane, imo, is both good and bad. Good--cheap, readily available, and my Iolite lasts about 1 to 1 1/2 hours after having been filled. The bad thing, though, is the butane container is larger than batteries. You also can't travel with butane in your carry-on bag on an airplane. I also don't like filling the Iolite. I have trouble telling when the "tank" is full, and I wind up overfilling and then having to wait a minute or two before turning it on.
With e-cigs, I got comfortable with their use almost immediately. The Iolite, however, took me substantially longer. There was some definite trial and error until I found out what worked for me. For example, if I use too high of a nicotine concentration, the vape is simply too harsh/strong. If I saturate the cotton, the vape is too harsh.
Now that I've worked with it a bit, however, I find that I really, really enjoy it. The vape is warm, and when I've got the right amount of liquid on the cotton, the vape is flavorful and soothing . . . almost comforting. It's also incredibly flavorful. (The first few minutes of turning it on, though, while it will produce vapor, it's not terribly flavorful . . . takes about 5 minutes for it to produce a complex, rich taste.)
Right to Vape has an excellent thread discussing the Iolite (formerly known as the iInhale). Right now, the thread is located in the general discussion:
I-Inhale from Smokejuice.co.uk (thread at Right to Vape forum)
Sadly, users have removed some photos from their photobucket accounts so many of the photos are no longer available.

Even so, the information is all there.
Also, one of our members, Frogbmth, has spent a great deal of time putting together a manual of sorts on the Iiolite. A link to download that manual can be found on the last page of the following thread:

Tim at
www.smokejuice.co.uk has done some great videos on the Iolite.
IOLITE / I-INHALE has a YouTube video showing the cotton method of using the Iolite. If you click on the "menu" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the video player on that site, it will give you a listing of some other Iolite videos to watch.
Hope this answers some questions.
