Wow, that's the complete opposite I have been hearing, definitely try a different build. Perhaps post photos of the one your having dramas with.
What ohms/wattage were you running it at aliens? I really think this little atty needs a bit of power to overcome the tendency for saturation of the wick- at least that's what I'm finding.
So I've tried a couple more builds today and am a bit nic'd out 
Raising the coil and dropping to about 1ohm produced more vapour and flavour- 2.3mm 28awg
Raising the coil above the neg screw puts it better in line with the airholes, but there's still a fair gap and blanking one hole off again improved the vape. But it was still lacking something...

This is working better- better vapour and flavour. Dual coil side by side 1.8mm dia 28awg for 0.57 ohm.
I figured smaller coils to cope with the wicking and side by side to get closer to the air holes for better vaporisation
I'm a bit worried with the coils so close to the plastic but the airstream should cool them a bit and I'll keep an eye on it, but it's certainly working better and the vape is nice and warm

Well I tried it with two different coils, all on an Istick (I broke my dna 30 so I have to use the Istick at 20 watt max):
- horizontal coil at 1.2 ohm;
- vertical coil at 1.6 ohms.
This lack of flavour is really strange to me too given the reduced chamber. However I'm going to try another vertical coil and raise it as you did.
Don't you have a mech you could try aliens? 20W might be ok but I was finding 15 not so good with that wet wick- perhaps a smaller diameter coil might help with lower power? Or packing the channels more to slow the feed of the wick?

Vertical just seemed more logical to me based on the deck design- but I'm looking forward to seeing what others find works best for them, and more than happy- excited even- to try other arrangements. This is an exciting atty Todd said he'd be putting up a review of it between xmas and new year- he sounded pretty excited about it too

Vaper KimEunWoo using a 28-gauge twisted single-coil 0.45 ohm on an 18350- wonder if he drilled the holes out as I find it a bit tight for direct lung inhaling like that, but that's about 30w too.
My thickest wire is 28awg so I think a single twisted coil is next for me to try.
I don't usually vape anywhere near 30W though and I'm interested to see how battery life is affected- shorter higher power drags vs longer lower powered drags

Wrong choice of words on my behalf, I apologise. Post office opens in 1.5 hours - ill be getting some builds going on soon.
Looks like Todd is already playing around with the K.loud, his response to my inquiry of his initial impressions was "Very easy to build on, sweet sweet flavour but a very tight draw, going to heat up a needle and make those air holes just a tad bigger"
Edit: I am guessing 2x1mm air holes is the equivalent of a single 2mm air hole? If it is i should not have a problem with the airflow in this as 2mm has been my sweet spot for a while now.

I find the draw a fair bit looser than the hf dripper I've gotten used to but probably not twice as loose as these holes are long tubes with associated surface drag so are smaller equivalent to 2 normal 1mm holes in a thin shell, if that makes sense. I can lung it but need to inhale harder than is really comfortable. I'd say it's a really nice easy mouth to lung inhale rather than a cloud chasing atty, but personally I'm pleased about that. Todd will have to heat the needle quite hot as it's pretty heat resistant plastic He didn't say what power he was vaping at?
BTW do you have any idea what the atties were that that other aussievapers forum member alluded to that operate on a similar principle- apart from the hf? I never saw anything like this before although of course there have been other gravity/pressure fed wicking devices. Just interested (not in arguments)

Yeah i was going to ask him, but did not want to increase debate (I am kinda interested though).
It feels more like 1.2 than 2mm but given the size of the holes on the actual top cap I would prefer to have the same large holes going through to the wick and use the top cap as an airflow control.
It really does amaze me this thing, the design on it is amazing and for me it is light years ahead of a certain other atty!

tried a few builds now but just find the airflow a limiting factor, as for the rest, wait for the review

The double nut posi post connection ala the Veritas is a PITA. The vapor direction makes it interesting though.
