I seriously doubt Kamry accidentally mentioned something as obtuse as ABS plastic when they meant glass. The real question is how glass-like is ABS plastic. We're used to polycarbonate (melts/cracks/hazes in some juices), and polypropylene (has a frosted look and is tolerant of all juices).
Here's what Wikipedia says chemically...
"ABS polymers are resistant to aqueous acids, alkalis, concentrated hydrochloric and phosphoric acids, alcohols and animal, vegetable and mineral oils, but they are swollen by glacial acetic acid, carbon tetrachloride and aromatic hydrocarbons and are attacked by concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids. They are soluble in esters, ketones, ethylene dichloride and acetone.[5]"
Does that mean it's juice tolerant? Ha. Guess we'll wait and see. I bet it is, but certainly don't quote me on that.

heres a thought...anyone doubting Eric AND fast tech that its not glass...pay the $7 and find out for yourself! If its not what you've expected...return it! pretty simple huh??

I've just ordered it because, like Eric, I'm sure it's going to be just fine. I'd also like to thank Eric for all the hard work he's put into the thread.

Kind of upset people said I knew for sure it was. I'm just a regular guy that gave it a shot to see if it was a good tank that worked well. I always had it stuck in my head it is glass because I was told it was a protank clone so it would have to be glass because one of the major points of the protank is for it to be able to handle acidic juices regular plastic tanks can't handle.

I went by the site that said it was glass.

I care about you guys a lot you are like family.

It is all good, Eric :) Your efforts are much appreciated! The folks that took the time to actually read this thread after VJ linked it, know that you only said that you thought it to be glass. You never confirmed it at all.

I was reading the FT forums and a few said that it was confirmed by you but, they were quickly set straight with the fact that you only thought it to be glass and did not really test it.

I bought 2 from FastTech before this thread was even started. I trusted the FT site that claims they are glass. Nobody will be upset with you for the excellent info that you have provided to us in this thread. You were honest and informative. Thanks for that!

I am starting to wonder if maybe the production of these started out with glass and was later switched over to ABS. I could see this happening if there were alot of problems in production caused by using glass. Lots of broken glass tanks in production or large QC problems, something along those lines.

That crossed my mind too.

To whom it may concern, I found this on Kidney Puncher FB page. It's almost a week old (6/22) and they haven't followed up yet.

Just a FYI: We got a sample of the X9 "Pro Tank Clone"
We subjected it to a scratch test before vaping and the tank is definitely not Pyrex or any other kind of glass.

We spoke to Kamry tonight and they say it is "ABS"
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We are researching the safety of ABS as a tank material.

We'll post results of the test vaping in a few days...

Hopefully it's safe. They use it in tattoos it says.

ABS plastic ground down to an average diameter of less than 1 micrometer is used as the colorant in some tattoo inks.[citation needed] Tattoo inks that use ABS are extremely vivid. This vividness is the most obvious indicator that the ink contains ABS[citation needed], as tattoo inks rarely list their ingredients.[11]

Thanks Eric for all the time and effort that obviously went into this - I'm about ready to pick a few of these up, will wait for some feedback on how they handle acidic juices since I do like a few of them, but overall this sounds like a huge winner given that I've got plenty of gear already and waiting on Slowtech isn't an issue for me...

Hey all. I've been looking at these too... have a couple in my FT cart. My question is also around their suitability to those volatile juices. My partner managed to crack an evod yesterday with either pineapple or cola fizz. We're not quite sure which one is the culprit. Am I better just ordering genuine Protanks?

ya maybe, untill there's more info on the ABS they use in the X9. and afterall you can find the real deal for around 14.00 and thats still cheap imo. my vendor of choice sells them for 14.00 and it comes with 2 heads and beauty ring...

Mystery solved. I got this response directly from FastTech:

Hi (salemgold),

Sorry to tell you that the material of the tank in sku1384900 is abs, which is the best kind of the environmental friendly plastic with excellent transparency.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
