Ordered mine last night....Well early this morning...
Protected batteries do not work in Vamo or Bamboo
Recently moved from 2 EGO Twist to a chrome Vamo. Still use the Twists for when I'm on the run with some wick modified Vivi Novas but most of the time, I just Vamo! Might get a stainless steel one when my local shop gets some. Yes, a walk in brick & mortar store just opened in Montreal.
Only issue I had with the Vamo is that it's slippery and often falls from standing position. I noticed it's OD is 22.2mm (7/8"), the exact OD of BMX and some moutain bikes. Got my hands on some old BMX grips and use them on the Vamo. One could dress the whole PV with cool grips. I just go for top & bottom. Was glad they where on when the Vamo fell down the concrete stairs. Rubber protected it. Boing boing boing.
Here's a picture of my chrome Vamo with the grips on and a DID clone with clear tank.

For a Vamo you want IMR batteries, not protected. IMRs have safer chemistry and are designed to handle high drain.
An IMR 18650 is the long size, and an IMR 18350 the short size. The lifespan will depend on the number of charge cycles, which is about 500 charges. Generally you would replace them after a year.
A lot of people get the batteries and chargers from RTD Vapor. Here's what you would need:
Charger:
Battery Chargers : Xtar WP2 II
Any of these batteries - two of whichever brand:
18605s
AW IMR 18650 2000 mAh
or
Batteries : Efest IMR 18650 Button Top
or
Batteries : Panasonic Hybrid/ IMR CGR18650CH Button Top
18350s:
Batteries : AW IMR 18350 3.7V 700mAh
or
Batteries : Efest IMR 18350 Button Top
