Why would we break tradition now? We never used to stay on topic, right?
Not until we had the boom lowered on us and everyone left! Remember that? We went from talking about everything to only talking about NT. One night when I have nothing to do(like that will happen in my lifetime since I work 7 days a week) I'm going to go back and reread that forum. The threads I liked anyway! :)

Lol, we are both doing something wrong Lynn. I thought we were supposed to work less as we get older????

Me too! I changed places of employment and got the short end of the stick. I went from 42-44 hours some weeks to 49 hours every week. It's getting old but the money is good. I work for it though.

Anti chatterbox pills sound wonderful! I think that will be our biggest adjustment! I am use to years of him working nights and my working days! I really love peace and quiet! I also really need to find part time work that is flexible! I will never make it sitting at home everyday!
When we moved here in '93, there was only one son at home, and when he and my husband went to work, the house was peaceful. The dog and I would listen to classical music or Dire Straits...whatever, as I worked. After we'd eaten in the evening, all would be peaceful again as some watched TV, and I carried on working until around 12.30am. I got a lot done and my routine served me well.
How the dynamics can change! Husband retires, so I move my starting time from 11am to 2pm and work later - then one son loses his job and works part time ...so, although married, most weekday afternoons, he calls in for lunch! (sometimes, his lunch is 2pm) ...so my day gets further disrupted.
Then I'm really ill, and it takes a year to recover enough to work properly ..except, I lost the flow of it and get distracted by the slightest thing! - Can't win

So, if you see any anti-chatterbox pills, do let me know ...and I'll do likewise for you ;)

You don't need any anti-chatterbox pills. Just do what my kids do, put some earbuds in your ears, listen to your favorite music and find your groove again......my kids can't hear anything happening around them when they do it!
Another option would be to get hubby an Ipad or similar tablet. It's so silent in my house when everyone has a device in their hands....

I've found it a blessing that as we age, our hearing gets worse. Right now, his mouth is MOVING, but I really don't mind it as badly.:lol:

I'm appreciating that more and more all the time :thumb:

Also, plausible deniability ;)

I get that......I smile and nod a lot more than I used too :)

These are all great strategies that I plan to practice! I know how to smile and nod!

You just have to be careful, you may inadvertently agree to something disagreeable,

"but dear I told you mom was moving in and you said "fine, that's nice honey""

Noooo! I still shudder when thinking of the days he'd work at home in the afternoons ...and use the notebook computer - constantly shouting through all the time about it 'malfunctioning', and what does he do with this, or what about that..... bad enough if he has a newspaper! ;)

Sadly my hearing hasn't got that bad- yet ...and I work in a room on my own - makes no difference

I answer accordingly, or make the right noise - but he somehow knows when I'm not fully listening by the tone of my voice!! :D

'Tis him accuses me of trying to make out he's losing it when I remind him of things I already mentioned - his problem has long been that he doesn't truly listen to what people are saying  - if he does lose his marbles, we're really in trouble!
