I haven't used a camera much since I was ill, but I must make the effort ...if she'll keep still

Thanks so much Lynn! Big as she is, she's cuddly :)
This is another from slightly earlier ...she looks quite small in it!

What breed is she? She looks like a handful! :)
You can see the mischief in her eyes can't you! :D She's a standard poodle - bred to be closer to the original heavy boned standard. Her Dad was our last ones cousin, so we're lucky to have one very similar to her. She was over 30kg when fully grown.
That last one was a hooligan when growing too ...some weeks in the earlier months, they put on 2kg, then there's all those big teeth to get, so not surprised they're full of 'it' The last one settled down as she reached full size and maturity. Lovely, funny, very faithful, and super intelligent ...too smart sometimes.

They're the only two standards we've had - the others have all been miniature or toy - and all had very different characters. Standard is my favourite.
This youngster is a lot like her predecessor though - I'm glad because she was that 'once in a lifetime' dog, and we still get upset now and then, and she was only 10 - could have lived up to another 5 years if all had been well.
This one isn't quite as confident yet - something the vet noticed when she had her 6 month jab last week. She stood very quietly watching his every move, but was happy enough with him.

Oh I love her !
Thanks! She is very lovable - we love her to bits. She's called Hetty.
I was working earlier, and she came in here with a ball in her mouth, stood patiently a while, and then firmly stuffed it behind me between the chair and my back! I took that to be my cue to play ball for a while! So I then went to watch TV, and she promptly climbed up beside me, towering above me, wanted a hug, and then curled up beside me. Sleeping soundly on the hall rug now that there's just me and her around :)

AW @Pictor ! Such a gorgeous pup! You can see how smart she is right there in those eyes. I'd love to see a recent pic when you can get one. And I am very happy to hear that she's a relative to your beloved once in a lifetime dog. That's so special, and very lucky for you that she was available at the time you needed her most. We've only got grand-doggers now. But, I love them just the same. Here's our grand-dogger Daisy. She spends most days here with us, and is very spoiled! Hope the pic doesn't turn out too large!

My mom and dad had a white standard. I was at the vet to pay the bill for the dog we'd had that ultimately passed away. While I was there, the receptionist asked if I thought they'd be interested in an owner surrender that had just came in. I told her I'd ask and see so I used their phone to call home. My mom said to bring her home and she would see. That's how FiFi came to join us. The vet had to shave her first to get rid of all the mats from the previous owners neglect of grooming her. FiFi instantly became my mom's dog. Every 3 months, she went to the groomer and she would come home blinding white, fresh haircut with bows on her ears and toenails painted to match. She would prance around for days! She lived to be around 18 years old.

It was pretty incredible to have such a special puppy available. We'd taken both our dogs to have their teeth cleaned last March, and an intermittent limp checked on Sophie's leg. The vets face told us there was problem when we went back, and sure enough, there was a tumour on her leg. It came like a bolt out of the blue, and so unexpected. I was recovering from illness, so the timing was really bad as it set me back quite a bit.
Much discussion on the best way to deal with it (vet was amazingly helpful for days), and eventually, I chose to go for controlled pain relief - it was the right choice, as exactly 3.5 months later, she was pain free, but started getting other problems, and it was obvious that it had spread to her lungs when the vet checked. So we called it a day and sat with her. Sad evening for us both, and we still miss her.
We made sure there were plenty of good days in that 3.5 months though - trips to the beach, ice cream, chips & coffee. Things she'd never had, but enjoyed so very much.

Sophie's cousins owner has long been a good friend - she breeds a litter only when she wants a new dog to show, which isn't frequent. (3 times in the 9 years we've known her), and when I phoned to tell her about Sophie, she carefully told us about the 9 puppies that had been born just a week earlier. She said that there was one girl that she just knew on sight would be for us. She'd known Sophie was dying, but hadn't mentioned the puppies.
A week later, she sent a photo of the puppies and the little one she'd earmarked for us - loved her on sight, but I said I wasn't sure yet - it felt too soon somehow, and she said she'd keep her for as long as it took to say yes :) I think she'd known all along that one of those puppies would be for us.
Once we thought about the similarities there'd be with our lost dog, we couldn't resist getting her.
Serendipitous? fate? I don't know - very unlikely there'll ever be another litter with such close ties to that dog, so it could only happen once - but to happen right at that time was quite something.
As it turned out, all but one of those 9 puppies went to people who had recently lost a dog. That's a whole lot of happiness they spread around.

We've only got grand-doggers now. But, I love them just the same. Here's our grand-dogger Daisy. She spends most days here with us, and is very spoiled! Hope the pic doesn't turn out too large!
Daisy is lovely! She looks so huggable. No wonder she's spoiled! :) How old is she?

Another of those occasions where you were in the right place at the right time for both your family, and for FiFi!
Ours gets groomed every 4-5 weeks (coat grows fast) no pretty toenails or bows, but she always looks smart. 18 is a wonderful age, and the reason we felt both us and Sophie had been cheated out of so much love by her dying at 10, because she loved us as much as we loved her. Such a cruel and vicious disease.
Never mind, they live on in our minds.

So, where do I get in line to try some of the @Rayonati Sloth famous juices..?! [emoji848][emoji4]
They're not mine, I just sent him some recipes I love from the webs. (except for one which was mine)

Hop over to the DIY section and check out the Wonder Flavours thread - I've been on a WF spree. They make flavorings, and also post recipes using their flavorings, and they're really blowing me away on all fronts.

That ^^ RPL is a roasted pecan latte recipe. It's very good.

Gremlin - which is in the US. I did originally order direct, not realizing Gremlin carried them. Subsequent orders I've ordered from Gremlin.
Thanks sweetie! I'm going to have to order some. I'm in need of some different flavors. I'm tired of the same old same old.

Sure is quiet in this NuThouse!
Coffee and Wakonda at me side to get this day started! And later I will be off to Home Depot to find a good chain saw. We have a beautiful Red Shumard oak tree that I love, but the five dogs are eating the acorns and getting really bad stomach aches and Stuff! Not to mention the crazy increase of rats who come for the acorns!
I love this tree, but I love my dogs more!
Lots of work ahead because the tree is now 17 years old :( Better to do it now before all the leaves come in.
Anybody close by need any firewood

We had a 24 year old ivy 'hedge' entwined in a 3ft trellis fence to keep the dogs out of the garden in wet weather.
When we got Hetty last summer, we were needing repeated vet appointments involving tests and alternative food after a similar result of 'upset tum'.
I started checking the poisonous and toxic plants lists, and repeatedly noticed ivy crop up. It may have never bothered our last dog, despite her rubbing her back along it every day, but I suspected it was affecting this puppy - over three days, the ivy, with 3" trunk/roots, was removed from the trellis fence and some new 4ft trellis put up in it's place. Result: looks a bit bare, but problem stopped :) I may plant a non toxic climber on that trellis when she gets older.

I have a yew bush in the main garden, so I'll need to watch her with that this summer - apparently even the stray clippings can be very poisonous long after they've fallen.

Talking about rats - we asked why the council had dug up a large shrubbery alongside some shops: rats! The close proximity of food/takeaway shops made the shrubs an ideal home.

We have been so careful not to have any dog food or water in the back yard because of those crazy rodents, but they like the acorns! We have always been careful also to check and make sure none of the plants are poisonous to our fur babies and for years they left the acorns alone till this year! We had already gotten rid of all the Oleanders for our first pup and now with 5 we barely have anything in the back yard! Our fur babies are also all diggers!
Gotta love our babies!
