I feel that this thread is long overdue. It is funny, even while writing it, I cannot believe I am doing this as those who know me in real life know that I am VERY opinionated (I say passionate
) about a variety of subjects. I am not what I would consider a wallflower and like to dive into the muck and debate with the best of them. I am not going to lie and tell all of you that I am always a positive person, but sometimes I can pull it off.
That being said, I felt that what I am about to say needs to be said here.
I am often put off by the fighting on this forum. I know how the dynamics of forums work, and I am not really surprised. Often, when you give a anonymous face to someone, they feel more comfortable voicing their opinions than they might normally be if they were face to face with someone. It is very similar to the number of review websites out there. People will have a experience at a restaurant, store, or business and then go home and in the safety of their own home, rip that place to shreds online. The issue with this is that they may be right or wrong but the place being reviewed has no real way of defending their business and now that opinion has a permanent place online for the entire world to see. The reviewer could have just been in a bad mood that day, and decided to take it out on that place. From that point on, millions of people will read that review, and possibly walk away with a negative opinion of that specific place. Sometimes it is obvious that the negative reviewer had a ulterior motive and sometimes not.
anyway back to my point.
You have heard of the phrase "different strokes for different folks"? No, I am not referring to the Gary Coleman show from the 80's. I am talking about people and life.
There is no single APV out there for everyone. If there was, this site would have one single vendor thread. Every person on here has a different need, opinion and fondness when it comes to all of these systems. Some like cool materials. Some like cartos. Some like attys. Some people like rebuildables. Not one single vendor has yet to come up with a device that will suit every person associated with this industry. If they had, they would be so wealthy that they would probably be retired by now. But this industry is not alone. I challenge anyone here to think of a single product, ideal, or opinion that every single person in the world agrees with. It is not possible. There is no car, religion, house, vegetable or cut of steak that every single person can agree is the one for everyone (except for bacon perhaps. everyone loves bacon). So why should we think the same thing would apply here.
I think it is important to recognize the differences that we all have when it comes to this "hobby" I think it would be nice if we respected each others opinions. I am not saying that you should not be passionate about what you think works for you. I know I am. I get so excited about what I love and use, that I want to shout it to the entire world (or at least this thread
), but in the end we all have to remember that there are "different strokes for different folks".
I created this thread in hopes that people use it to post things they are happy about. It is a thread that should be enjoyable. Come participate and be happy. We should all be proud that we accomplished something positive. We quit smoking. Come here to support each other. just come here if you want a place where people get along.
My hope is that those who participate in this thread do so with joy. I hope to have a thread that is drama-free. Of course that might be asking a lot. I also hope to win the lottery someday, but doubt that is ever going to happen
