After 3 months of development, I'm proud to present to you the Odachi! Here are pics of unit 000- There will be a few slight revisions, but the changes are pretty minor.

Super-Reduced Chamber, 3mm single wick hole

Air Control Ring allows for multiple, switchable air holes (two stock holes, 1.5 and 1.8mm) AND infinite adjustment in conjunction with the top cap (See Below)

Single-piece body and atomizer- a "true hybrid". 650 version (pictured) has a 4ml capacity tank. The 500 and 350 versions have a shorter, 2.7ml capacity tank.

Brass contacts, 316L stainless construction throughout.

The unit also has an innovative, easy-to-use battery adjustment located on the inside of the switch. Adjustable throw is accomplished thru the use of a separate screw and either a small o-ring as a spacer, or a few small washers (I'm undecided on this).

The Odachi is a stout device. Because of this- and also due to inherent design characteristics and materials choices, such as the 1/8" laboratory-quality Pyrex tanks, it is extremely durable. You would need to put some effort into breaking one of these when it's fully assembled! Also, the top cap, while being on the heavier side, is extremely stable, and next to impossible to "leverage" out of position, partially because of the stability gained from the control ring being in place underneath. Long story short, there's no need to worry about it falling off. ;)

The Odachi also retains all of the eliquid inside the chamber, thanks to the control ring and dual top cap seals. There is even talk about trying it as a drip well/dripping atty, although I have not tested this method yet.

So far, during testing, I find that the air control feature allows for a wide variety of vapor characteristics. Tighter draws give a warmer, more flavorful vape akin to some of the U-wick hi-end atties, and the 1.8mm hole wide-open gives you thick dense clouds more akin to normal hybrids. I've found that it vapes best when I add a wrap or two, compared to other single-wick devices, and under load with (with brass centerpost and batt contacts, stainless coil contacts), it averages a .2v loss under load (0.7 ohm single coil). Again, this is a prototype, and I may be able to add a few tricks to lower this even further- but honestly, it runs hot enough already...

I will have more information on ordering an Odachi in the near future! Prices start at $235 for the 350/500 batt size units, and $245 for the 650 version.
