I have been trying to get here all day but it seems I've been in PMs all day. I made it finally after everyone is gone.

Sad news folks :(

JR Custom Turnings can no longer support shipping discrepancies and hence will be removing the small packet option from their shipping options. The intent of this option was to provide reasonable shipping costs to our customers on atties and small items. Unfortunately the cart cannot calculate what can and can not be shipped in a small packet, and deficits in shipping costs (50-100%) can no longer be absorbed considering our low prices.

As JRCT endeavours to provide quality products and services at a reasonable price, if the problem can be resolved we will once again re institute the option. Thank you for your understanding...

Sincerely,

Switcher

G'day valued customers!

We have gone through the various software options available and there were no solution(s) :( As this does not bode well with our business philosophy we have come up with the following solution.

In my opinion this is a service that I choose to offer my customers in order to further extend their savings any way I can. Charging normal shipping rates to ship a couple of small items does not only not sit well with customers, it goes against our entire philosophy. So how do we remedy this? Simple!

  • Our shipping policy will be updated with the necessary information of what constitutes a small packet;
  • It goes without saying that larger items such as batteries, tanks etc... do not fit the category;
  • Items that do fit the category are such things as atomizers, drip tips, o-rings etc... In other words something that can be shipped in an envelope (although we use small bubble packets for shipping); and
  • A disclaimer will be added to the check out process depicting the new policy.
New policy
Starting immediately the "small packet" option will be instituted once again as part of our business structure and offered to both Canadians and CONUS customers of the lower 48. In order for this option to remain available it is imperative that our customers use the function wisely, as it will be a shipping option available for selection. IOW, if you know you do not qualify for small packet shipping, please do not select the option.

During the check out process you will be required to check that you have read and understood our shipping policy - which will be amended to include the following:

  • Selecting the wrong shipping option may cause delays in receiving your purchase;
  • Customers selecting the "small packet" shipping option knowing they do not qualify will see their order suspended until shipping discrepancies on their part have been fulfilled; and
  • No purchases will be forwarded to the customer until full shipping charges have been received
These changes will not bode well with all our customers e.g an extra tick during check out, the new policy etc... and these feelings are rational and fully understood. However, I would like to close with:

At JR Custom Turnings the good of the many outweigh the needs of a few!

We value all our customers in order to continue to supply you with Quality Product at reasonable rates, it is often necessary to institute policy changes such as this in order to serve you better.

Once again I thank you for your understanding :)

Hey Kami,

Thank you, I believe so too. It is often unavoidable if not difficult in business to make decisions without affecting customers in one way or another. It is our pledge to keep these interruptions to a minimum. It is also to be said, that regardless of how much testing took place prior to launch, glitches will show up occasionally. As with our customers, I hope these glitches are minor and, few and far between :)

I would also like to take this opportunity to request: should anyone notice abnormalities etc... please inform us so we can rectify these in short order. We are human and not infallible so please let us know so we can correct them in order to serve you in the best possible way(s) we can :)

Sounds reasonable. However, isn't there a minimum transfer amount for EMT? Like, $10 or something? That could make rectifying small shipping cost discrepancies somewhat difficult.
Eric,

I guess it depends on the banking institution a customer uses, it cost me $1.50 per transaction when I use EMT. That being said, it is incumbent on the customer to read our small packet shipping policy during the check out process (a new req't) prior to, vice just ticking the box. There are administration fees associated with every transaction on the store front, I believe that it is not unreasonable to ask our customers to shop responsibly, in order that everyone profits from their experience with us.

The bottom line is... folks wanted a Canadian mod maker and vendor with Quality Product at reasonable costs. I believe we are what folks were looking for. OTOH we are a business after all and if this means dissing a few customers for the good of many so be it. IMMHO it is extremely irresponsible for individuals to think otherwise.

Switcher,
