I'm almost convinced, b.m.
The one at Focal has been very tempting. At least they have really good CS.

Somebody at the Focal thread just ordered one, and he'll be using it with a KF m-tank and the FT top cap with fill holes. I'll drop the pic here when he drops it there.
cheers Cindy :toast:

All in all, though, I should have passed on the $20 ebay clone orchid until at least v2 comes out. The screws falling out make it unusable in my opinion, and the lack of fill hole is a pita. The quality control is complete crap, and having brass internals covered by chrome that flakes off if you soak it overnight is unacceptable. Having to wick it exactly right to not leak yet not choke is a pita. Wait just a couple of months and there will be a well-made stainless steel quad channel atty with a 5ml pyrex tank and a fill hole plus good airflow for $25 that does not depend on the precise placement and amount of wick and is not gigantic like some tank attys,. I promise. I ordered a fogger v4.1 (one of the gigantic ones) to have until that time.

I see that V2 clones are now being sold on ebay for between $20 and $60. They have a bottom fill hole. One listing says the difference in quality between the v1 and v2 is "noticeable." Hopefully this means that it is better. I will wait until someone verifies that it is stainless steel instead of coated brass and the screws don't fall out.

Yeah, it looks like deeper channels and improved posts/screws. However, I don't see the AFC mentioned on the Aether Tech shop. After using the Orchid v1 clone for a couple weeks, I cannot wick it (rayon) to prevent dry hits with thicker juice. That is my biggest complaint. Deeper channels should fix that.

Go figure,a week after i buy my 2nd one,the v2 comes out haha.Oh well, gives me reason to buy another,of course i already spent all my budget for this week, but next thursday,i will be ordering one of the v2's.

I have the glass kits on the way to me now, once i get them, then they are off to another member for cutting,so hopefully in a few weeks,i will have a solution to the glass tanks for these.Of course as fast as they moved on putting the bottom fill on these, they may have glass tanks before i do haha.

Someone mentioned in another thread or maybe this one to pull the base out just a little so it still makes a seal with the chimney then fill into the gap. Have to say I'm using a syringe to fill it and it is amazing. So thanks to whoever said that. Got a full 3 ml in there with that method. Much more convienient

Would love to see a video of this fill method. Love my Orchid, but man does it blow through juice!

I haven't seen any video's on it,but it is actually really easy to do.Just unscrew the bottom base until there is a small gap between the base and the tank, just big enough to get a needle down in there. You can use either a syringe with a blunt tip needle,or i use a needle top cap on my bottle, then just slide it in a bit,and fill it up,just keep the juice level about a 1/4" below the threads on the tank so it doesn't get forced out when you thread it back together. This way gains quite a bit of capacity, because you can now utilize that big open space in the top cap that is unused space when top filling.

Another new development in Orchids. Fasttech now has a clone, although it is the V1, for about $14. They are stated to be stainless steel (and PMMA), so I assume they are not brass coated crap like the other clones, and hopefully the screws actually cinch down (if not, I will send it back, no matter the cost, to make a statement) . They don't have the bottom fill hole but no matter since I just got the top fill cap which works great for me although one review said that when he screws the top down all the way the holes line up so it can leak, but mine does not. I think it is excellent - you unscrew the top section to align the holes in the bottom section, and with a needle squeeze bottle, you can fill it in about 5 seconds.

They state their orchid holds 2.5 to 3 ml, but with the top fill cap I bet it holds more. It ships in 5 business days, and I ordered one. Will report back in a couple of weeks.

I just ordered the V2 last night. Sadly, it will have to wait for the rest of my order before it'll get shipped... I ordered the Tobeco Knight mod from the same vendor, and they don't expect them to be in until the 19th..... I'm hoping that's true, cause I read somewhere that the Knights won't be shipped from China till around the 10th... I'll definitely keep up on this thread though and check back in once I get the Orchid... I plan to put it on a 15W regulated Tesla, but we'll see what happens as far as that goes...

Don't waste your money on the nano kit,at least not for the orchid.I put one on my orchid right after i got it,and took it back off after 1 fill. These orchids dont have a huge capacity to start with, but the nano kit takes it to almost nothing.Filling from the bottom,i can get 3ml in it with the stock tank, with the nano i got less than 2,just barely 1.5ml.If you want a quartz tank for the orchid, but want a larger capacity, hold off on the fasttech order.I have a couple full size quartz kits coming any day from fasttech, and once they arrive,i am sending them out to another member here who has the tools needed to cut the glass to the correct size.As soon as i can confirm that this will be a success,i will post the details with some pictures, and if the other member doesn't mind,i will pass along his info for anyone else who wants to get this done.
