Ok, we are talking mod's here not models...

My first and so far only mod was the Weller soldering iron after seeing the Hungwell here. It was stupid simple even with removing the RCA connector and putting an interchangeable 808 and 510 connector on of my own design.

I played around with the idea of making a flashlight mod but after using my EGO for a while and handling a couple of different flashlights I was considering using, the Weller was my choice because of the shape and the way it fits in the hand.

So what does everyone else think is the best or most ergonomic shape. I'm just not overly impressed with the standard tube type mod or the battery box mods. They lack elegance and artistic flair which in my opinion is why so many people bling them out...

I think we need something like a sticky with a list of the different Items that have been transformed into a PV. I am always looking at stuff now wondering if the shape would be conducive to being transformed into a PV. The PV-able items data base...

Ok I'm off to bed now. I will check in in the morning to see what you all nighters have for input.

Thanks for the nose hair trimmer idea guys! Found this small cheapo. Turns out that all I had to do was solder 2 wires to the switch, and 2 wires onto the atty connector. Once you pop the round blade part out of the end the atty connector fits tightly into that hole without modification. It fits 1 AA in the bottom, which means that a 14500 fits perfectly. All in all probably 20 minutes to mod. I been vaping on this about an hour and it works GREAT!

Hello bstedh,

As far as ergonomics, the one I've created has some comfortable features. You may have seen it, but if not,
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/182981-my-mod-box-2-x-18350-a.html

Ergonomics - I like that it sits upright on a flat surface without being too tall. The weight/footprint/height work together to cause it to be pretty stable on the desktop...not very prone to being knocked over. The 'corners' are well rounded making it a comfortable fit in the hand. Other than the cartomizer, my hand nearly conceals it. The mass is good with most of it being centered in the palm with two 18350s, side by side. I suppose the battery box door is an ergonomic feature. With the button atop, there is no searching or fumbling for it.

Elegance - well maybe - pretty simple and black. The screw heads and battery door have now been painted black and the RS logo removed.

Aesthetics - Nothing fancy at all. No accents or highlights other than the cartomizer and button. Does the ethic of undertstated count? No...other than simplicity, not a thing of beauty.

It would be interestesting if a Mod Design Competition were held. If enough interest, such a competition might have a couple of different classes...Technology, Performance...I've been giving some thought to an Art Mod.

I really like the idea of a design competition. I wonder if that would be something we would get MadVapes or another mod supplier to sponsor?

Your box looks good but that is exactly what I would like to get away from even though it has nice features... =] Everybody is doing boxes or tubes. They are great for starting out and learning but everybody is doing them. I looked at the spark plug and liked that as it was a little different than a standard tube but doesn't have the space to mod further.

So far the body of the Weller battery powered soldering iron has been the most like what I am looking for but it still lacks a little. I can't say what is missing as I really don't know what I'm exactly looking for and won't know until I see it or hold it... So far most things I have looked over have been nice in the hand but not enough room, or have the space for modding but don't sit in the hand just right.

I continue to look everything over whenever I'm out at a store of any type.

For bling value I have been kicking around ideas of converting a metal skull or brass knuckles. They would look cool but I don't think they would work for daily use. If someone did decide to have a competition I think we would need two categories. "Cool" and "Functional"

I have been thinking about putting the batteries and perhaps a booster chip on a wrist band and run a small 3"ish, long wire to the atty where the on/off switch is. for a kinda hands free (when needed) just clip the atty onto the wrist band when you need that hand.

Use an Ipod arm band that all those uppity joggers use:laugh: Just put an auto circuit into a box mod and your done...

power over wifi....

i'm looking for objects that won't break and will land on the bottom if tossed or dropped - so far this is the only off-the-shelf component I've seen:
