So, I have a ridiculously good machinist at my disposal and I was thinking..."I need a new mod". So I pose to you all, if you could build a mod, price being no issue, what are the features and things that you would want. It can be any material (up to and including titanium) shape, style, (sectioned tube or telescoping), button could be anywhere and any style. What do the people want? What do you need? Hybrid? The only limit is no boards. It can have an electronic button I guess, but I would like to keep it all mechanical.

That's the best part of my machinist, I can tell him what I want and he can make it happen. He's a wizard in metal. He has tools that most machinists don't have. He's responsible for most of the "mechanical" parts on the B2 bomber. A quick sketch from me, and poooof, I have it. Scratch that, the best part is he works for free, (thanks dad), but I digress. I have a couple of ideas, but I wanted to get people talking about the pros and cons of various designs. I just want a really unique mod that could be the envy of all my friends.

I'm a machinist but unfortunately I have no lath and my work place is like all work and no play. "if the machine is running you better be making parts for the company." but anyways I'd make a 18350 or 14500 hybrid dripper more streamline not like the novice/fatty hybrid but more like the "Gecko Dry"[which is sold out or I'd have one].

Zenesis 2 cons: no lock for the spring loaded button though i've never had it fire in my pocket or on my desk. tube doesn't adjust for different size batteries (probably not a huge problem but I find it kind of a bummer). machined airflow through the top cap is lacking (not that I'd use it for an atty with the air hole through the 510, but I have before). nothing else other than that. Great device overall. also compatible with the zen carto tank atty and the z atty to make it a full blown hybrid (the 510 top cap can be removed for the zen threaded hybrid attys).

MISTer cons: full blown hybrid with no compatibility (as far as I know) with other atomizers. Locking mechanism for the switch isn't really a locking mechanism, just a ring that can be pulled out past the switch; if you're not careful you'll pull it out which is more of an annoyance than a hassle. airflow can't really be changed (you'll have to see a video or something about it to understand why). nothing too special about the connections (brass).

Both are great mods with slight annoyances. I'm a big fan of magnetic buttons with locking mechanisms, telescoping mods and gold or copper connections. I think if nothing else look into machining a sweet atty. I could go on for days about my ideal design there.

These are some great ideas...Starting to rough up some stuff on paper and getting myself finalized on what I want in a mod. I'd really like to hit it out of the park on the first try so I'm looking for some numbers on conductivity. If anyone knows about voltage drop across various metals, or where a good table might be let me know. Right now I'm looking at the more exotic metals for my connections, pins and whatnot. Beryllium Copper specifically. I have access to quite a bit of random metals, (and anodization if it matters), so if there is a unique metal you would like to use throw it out there too.

I've been thinking about making a top cap for a Genesis style atomizer that doesn't leak. Something with an adjustable airhole, a bunch of holes in ascending diameter in a ring, similar to this one: Helios Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - RBA's. You would be able to spin the ring further though and close off the airhole all the way to avoid leakage.

Further, I think it would be awesome to then have a groove in a particular part of that ring on the opposite side of the airhole that corresponds to a switch that would move up the top cap vertically and eventually plug the bottom of the drip tip. The switch could only slide up when the airhole on the ring is in the locked position, and it would also work to keep the ring in place until it is disengaged.

Kind of hard to put what I'm envisioning in my mind in to words, but I hope you get an idea. It would be great to make a cap for a genny that you can put in a pocket or purse and not leak.

Oh, and I'm a real big fan of Zen's Z2 system. I really hate the 510 connection, went through too many devices when I started because of cheap Chinese construction, threading issues, etc. It's an open source spec, and I can't wait until more devices are available for it.

It should be Titanium. Or maybe carbon fiber. Make that Adamantium. It should have a grappling hook, and break into two so it can turn into nunchaku. It should have a tazer in the bottom, and a finger print reader like the iPhone 5s, and if somebody else presses the button it shocks you... or explodes. It should be able to turn invisible (to IR, UV and visible light sensors) so it can't be stolen, and have a voice command feature so you can make it visible again. It should talk to you like that car from Night Rider. And it should have a light saber because only a jedi could wield such an amazing mech mod.

Would you pay $350 for this one???

I would pay $35 for the clone that could double as half a nunchuck, occasionally didn't get my "fingerprint" (read: also works with nipples) right, turn "invisible" by looking like an inconspicuous pouch when put it a pouch and be voice (un)controllable like Siri with a shrill voice that went "bingelibingelibeep" when turned on... and have a laser pointer.

This will be fun.

Telescoping, but long enough for a 18650 + kick2.

I like simple. I'd be more about the fine details and how "polished" the product was and how durable it is. The one thing I am finding hard to find is a mod that is long enough for an 18650 + kick

Brass.

Magnetic switch (bottom), twisting locking ring. Machined air holes in all the right places. Sexy design.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the head.

I'd want a good RBA setup like the rsst, but a pyrex enclosed in steel bowl, with cut out slits to view levels. That way it would be durable, but functional.

I'd pay $40-50 for that alone as long as it worked well.

It would also be pretty cool if it could be machined at a 45 degree angle from the tank threads...so that it made an L shape....and then make the other side of the battery tube flat so that it could sit on your desk, keep the wick wet, and not fall over.

If I had access to any rare metal and wanted the BEST hands down number one conductor that would be easy. Pure silver, not cheap but it is the most conductive metal on the planet. Pure silver contacts, brass housing with maybe some silver top/bottom caps for that high end two tone look. Then maybe a nice logo or other engraving.

On the design aspect; I have though about this too many times. Personally I would want the following things in my mod:
1) Adjustable brass or silver center pin (like screw in or out to adjust height or clean)
2) Holds 18650 for all day ability
3) Smooth short throw magnetic bottom switch
4) Locking ring
5) Ability to slightly telescope to increase or decrease size for slightly different sized 18650 batterys
6) Ability to fully break down for cleaning with ease
&7) Proper battery venting
