As long as I can meet the mailman and hide the packaging my default answer to the question "is that new?" is "I've had it a while..." Could mean 5 minutes, could mean 5 months. To her it all looks alike and who's to say what "a while" actually means :p

LOL it's like my ex, if show her a new mod / atty what not, she goes "hmm another piece of metal" and walks away bored less than a second after I held it up to show to her.

Sucks you got a bad cap and I don't think some of these kids can help being D bags. Hopefully they will mature. You are by far the better man in character and it showed in this thread. My immaturity shows in calling them D Bags. But hey I am also a realist. LOL
See ya on HEM!

No, it's atties not screwing onto the top cap. See the list below.

Yeah, so...I got the same advice and did that. I'm sure it was just a tap near the end of its life, and that's why I'm not fussed. More will fit on it now, but it's taken some serious work. I nicked a chunk out of my palm doing that push/pull thing with a cartomizer. I was honestly worried that I was going to flat-out break the top cap, but what happens is that my DID screws in now. It's rough, even after cleaning the threads with contact cleaner, but it screws on.

I'll just go buy a nice tap at some point. Seems like it's not a bad thing to have now that I've had 510 issues.

What of this counts as crap quality:

3 Fatty v2s
An entire box of Boge cartomizers.
An hh.357.
An avid vaper 510 to 901 adatper.
2 Tridents
A DID (yes, the MMV one, not a clone)
2 Atmistique Divers

If you'll go back to my first question, you'll find that I knew cheap atties could be at fault and that I was waiting to contact MMV until I treid something more on the Poldiac's level.

That's the list of stuff that wouldn't fit on my Poldiac until I started really man-handling it to condition the threads as you guys suggested. Now, the DID fits, most of the cartos, and one of the Divers. The rest still don't, but it's fine. I've been using it with a Fatty v2, but I bought it in person...and we had to try 4 of them to get one that fit. Also, all of it fits on my Silver Bullet, my Provari, and my Gus. None of them are as "nice" as the Poldiac, but their 510 connections fit more stuff. I get that tight tolerances are a thing and that's probably part of why the Poldiac seems to hit better. But, it doesn't matter how well it hits if nothing will screw onto it.

If I hadn't asked for advice, I would have returned or sold the Poldiac on day 1. I think I came out on top, since at least I can use it now.

You and I have very different definitions of the word Quality.

Why are you being such an :censored:? I have never said that the Poldiac is a bad device or that MMV is a bad company or that Jim is a bad guy.

I've said that something was wrong with my top cap and that I was slightly disappointed with the customer support I got from clicking "contact me" on their website. And that was only because of what people ITT said MMV would probably do.

It's a good thing you're a fanboy of a device people generally respect. You wouldn't last 5 posts in a Provari thread if you're getting defensive because some guy wants the mod to be awesome and doesn't feel like paying $30 in shipping to maybe get a replacement for a $30 part.

IDK...maybe it was the "not buying a second as quickly" comment you misunderstood. The old list (if they'd just offered to mail me a top cap) was 2nd Poldiac, 2nd Reo, Nemesis, list for a vela. Now, it's 2nd Reo, Nemesis, list for a vela, 2nd Poldiac.

I don't see how you can take that as an insult.

I seem to be ordering 2 of everything these days, "Oh, honey look what I got for you, and the best thing is it was a 2 for 1 special on a preorder. Aren't those ecig vendors wonderful people!" or "The Chinese just cloned this and it was really cheap"

Or every once in awhile I'll send a link to a pair of shoes I know she loves, she knows why I'm doing it but it seems to have become a little game we play, she get's shoes and I get my vape gear = marital bliss.....

It wasn't a bad cap. The atty!s were of loser tolerance. That's what started the heated discussion. Before understanding that we got into it. But I guess Im just the older generation. Direct.
He started the name calling so I poked him back.
You should read from the beginning when I helped him even made a video to explain. Even then he kept saying the cap was a defect. I lost my cool. I admit. I just have a pride for this product. And newbies are to quick to judge before they understand. I have been on here since mmv built the thing and even pushed jim to make it. Now that they are easy to get. Inexperienced people are getting them and they just don't understand. And say things like the cap is a defect on a open forum. And people believe it. Like you do. Thats my point.

A little history. Jim's goal was to make the hardest hitting pv. Tight threads, silver coated contacts no springs in the switch. The buyers at the time understood the trade offs. Attys would be tight for best contact. Silver would be harder to maintain. Great conductivity. Achieved

But now that it is being bought for looks and availability by many. It is being looked at thru different eyes. So Jim needs to make a decision. Do I make it more acceptable to the general vapor or keep it the best hitting device. I hope he sells two versions because I believe there are still folks that want the best not the easiest. IMO.

Tony,

Well said. Coming from a background of mechanical engineering I figured just re-cut the atty threads to spec or if you really really want to, tap the top cap. But hey, I used your push pull method on a different mod and atty the other day (Private and Atomic) and it worked flawlessly. With out rehashing the whole thing I felt pretty upset there myself.

I think the take away here is, personally for me to not lose my cool but also, if you are going to claim something is defective you should have an explicit understanding of the issue before publicly expressing any negativity towards a vendor or product. Specifically among the e-cig community, I feel like this is something that should not be taken lightly.

I hope Jim never changes anything on the Poldiac. But maybe a 26650 series might be nice:)

That would be an interesting concept. Maybe there should be a "pro" model; and a "basic user" version, with slightly looser tolerances, and contacts that require less maintenance. Kinda like they do with golf clubs and balls.
