I've watched many review videos on the Poldiac and am amazed by the vapor production and everyone swearing on the performance and reliability. It's just that... I lack any experience with Genesis-style atomizers and have never owned a mechanical mod.
My background:
I first started with the V2 eCigs a few years back and somewhere in between switched back to analogs (I smoked the DJarum Cloves). Been vaping exclusively for about a year now and my experience level is up to the VV/VW level mods of the iTaste SVD and some dual coil and bottom feed clearomizers like the iClear 30 and the Protank II. So as you can see, I imagine there would be quite a jump going from that to a Genesis-Style, rebuildable / repairable atomizers. I'm a technical, hands-on sort of guy so I wouldn't mind the tinkering process that's involved but I need some more information and reference about the Genesis-style experience.
The Poldiac:
I've been doing some research and read a lot on this topic and the Poldiac looks real appealing to me. It has so many editions and choices that it's difficult to come to a conclusion as to which one to pick. At first I was nearly set on going for the ANAME edition because the brass is kept to a minimum and I wouldn't have to constantly be worried about tarnishing and polishing it. Then I showed the different pictures to some friends and they ALL jumped in awe at the heavily brassed UMA or Belial models. It does look like the brass polish is very eye-catching and I wouldn't mind having to polish it once in a while to keep up its looks.
I plan to go with the Standard DID from Metal Madness Vapors for the overall unified look it will achieve with the Poldiac. Does anyone have this setup and is happy with it? I might get the pyrex glass with it so I can see the juice level.
What goes into maintaining a Genesis-style atomizer like the DID? How long does one have to recoil or do any maintenance to it from the moment that you have it set and filled and it's up and going? What resistance do you guys use with it?

Genny's vape great but there are some drawbacks with them for me. There's a bit of a learning curve getting them setup, it can become frustrating at first but once it clicks it almost becomes second nature. They big thing for me is that they leak if not kept upright. When I use one its at home, not out and about or at work. I have a short DiD but usually have a RDA on my Uma. There are some that look and work nice on the Poldi's, you might get one of them to use while you figure out the DiD. The brass is easily polished with Cape Cod polishing cloths. Sometimes I prefer mine tarnished and at others polished. If you want it to stay shiny longer you can use something like NuFinish to seal it.
the original DID while not all fancy and bling-y is still one of the best attys around, the small area of the cap makes the flavor really good. and just like the poldi, you know you have a chunk of metal in your hand and not some machine stamped thin tube.
genesis attys take some practice. once you get good at it, maybe 15-20minutes from start to vaping.
personally i end up replacing things cause i just cant leave anything alone lol and wack my coil or wick somehow. but i have had wick/coil setups last well into a month with a quick dryburn and rinse once in a while. everyone's mileage will vary depending on setup and choice of wire etc.
for my vv i run around 1.8 ohms
on my mechs i run around .9-1.0 ohm. again everyone is different and you may end up with something different. but for someone who likes to tinker or experiment the genesis will shine, there are so many options and variables to try if you feel inclined to keep tweakin.
I really like the kayfun especially for the portability and i love dripping for the insane blast of flavor and vapor, but nothing has come close to the way my juice tastes in my geni.
i actually went into a panic when i broke my tank and had to wait for a replacement I stalked the mailman harder then when i bought the darn mech itself.

I've been watching some videos on YouTube about wicking and coiling a Genesis. PBusardo's initial DID review where he (admittedly a novice at genesis wicking) rolls his own wick and coil and his AGA-T review where he uses the regular method, Petar K's, and the Pulse method. So I've spent nearly 2 hours watching Genesis coils being created.
Which method have you found it works best for you? And have you gotten to a point where you don't have to tilt a Genesis to get a good vape from it?

i think your on it man lol, no matter how much you watch someone else the first few times can be like W T F is going on..
personally i use the drill bit method to wrap a coil, roll some mesh and just torch the end a little then slide the wick in and with a half dead battery slowly pulse the coil making it work its way around the wick, a little adjusting with a paperclip to get an even glow and off you go.
on a brand new wick and coil i found sometimes it may need a readjustment once in a while but after that wick and coil get some build up on them usually never have to mess with it again.
.9 -1.0 ohms usually and i make it down to about 3.5v before i get annoyed lol
Mechanical mods and RBAs come and go. It seems like every week there is a new rage. But nothing, I mean nothing, beats the look and performance of a well set up DID on a Poldiac. JMO.

That looks very nice indeed! It surprises me how flush your DID atty looks with the Poldiac! I thought (from videos and MMVapors spec sheet) that the DID (20 mm) looks considerably smaller than the Poldiac (22.6 mm) but on in your picture it all looks nearly even. Maybe the pirex glass gives it that illusion.
I just watched it. He makes a mean micro coil! Will that be viable to do on the standard DID or is the whole too big for it?
So I pulled the trigger late last night and got you, Uma! The 18650 was sold out so I had to unfortunately settle for your smaller sister, the 18500. Also ordered the standard DID (polished), with pyrex and brass contacts for it.
Turns out I pulled the trigger a bit quick as the 18650 option was again available just a few hours later today when I woke up.
I didn't think it would be a big deal since I wanted to try something a bit smaller than the 18650 but then again the difference between the two options is only 15 mm. Considering the drop in battery life I personally don't think the very slightly smaller size factor justifies it but I guess we'll see. As of right now, I can't order the 18650 sleeve and pants for the UMA (they only have it in polished SS).
