hey yall,

there are 3 poldiacs for sale on ebay , all by the same seller. they seem a bit sketchy.

does someone know how to check the authenticity of these?

poldiac | eBay

Not sure how to check authenticity. but why not just get one from the manufacturer (for less money) and not have to worry about weather its the real thing or not???

I kind of agree, now that the poldiac clone is about to hit shelves I am very nervous with unknown sources (for any high end mod now a days) I would rather buy new even if it comes out a few dollars more and be sure im getting a brand new undamaged unit with the extra parts from the actual maker.

IDK, until we know more about how the clone stacks up to the real deal it's hard to buy with confidence, but I'm sure there will be tell tail signs of the counterfeit, beside just quality.

Could be hard for someone who's never held a real Poldi. If I were in the market I would have no problem with a local trade or sale; that way I could either give the guy a hug in person or crack him over the head with the clone (depending) :D.

lol nope, but I will only start to be worried when they finally crack the provari chip. ask ViaTech about them intel chipsets, reverse engineering is a bi**h

They've been trying for years, it's not that they can't, obviously with enough money you can. It's that they can't make it cost effective enough to make enough of a profit. They tried with the ZMax and other Provari-a-likes. The Provari's finish alone isn't cheap, that combined with the chip cost doesn't make it feasible enough for them to make a profit and keep it in the sub 100 dollar range. It just doesn't make sense business wise. Now mechs they can make all day long, they get steel in China at huge discounts, alot of our steel is mined there.

I agree. It almost seems that Jim has a real hatred for the unified look of the same dimension mod and atty. Even with the 22.6 mm upgrade for the DID, you're still left with the old 20 mm top cap. Considering that the upgrade kit is only 7 euros less than the price of a DID, I don't understand why not just make a new DID that's 22.6 in its entirety to fit the Poldiac. Even if it's a few euros more.

The kit isn't practical for me at all and I don't like how you have to get rid of the Poldiac's top, screw contacts and all, for the post to "hang" inside.

I'm toying with the idea of buying an AC9 just because I want something to match the Poldiac's diameter so much. It has the same wick hole and all.

I've heard a new DID is coming... What it will be I have no idea, possibly flushed out the entire length (?).

IDK, I like the step between the Poldi and (D20) DID's. I haven't ordered the upgrade because I've been broke lately but I do like the design with the center-post making direct contact with the inner switch. It eliminates redundant contacts.

Just a word to the wise, IMO I would skip on the AC9. I had one, ehhhh there's nothing I would really say bad about it, I just never used it. Agian, just my opinion but I was not that impressed.

at the time of release it was a sharp looking atty, it works well but mine hit the classies in less then a week, not a bad atty but didnt really stand out for me either.

I hate it! I use the pyrex on the DID and with it the size difference seems less apparent only because the glass tends to catch your eye and gives off a little optical illusion. Recently, the pyrex broke (weird how it happened when I took it apart to clean... I didn't drop it) so I ended up using the SS that the DID comes with for the 3 days until the replacement came in. It looked really much smaller when comparing it with the pyrex. The difference was unreal.

If not the AC9, is there any other 22mm genesis atty highly recommended?

    Thanks!

Yeah I run glass on my DIDs also. I know 'Metal Madness Vapors' but when I'm running 28 or 26GA wire I kinda like to know when I'm about to get a dry hit. MMV glass is definitely the best but BedazzleTubes is a close second and IBTanked after that.

The Kraken. I was not a fan VA's early stuff but he really has stepped up his build quality. I mean that's first impressions; I've built one, and they do def rip but I haven't got my hands on one of my own yet.

Doc Dave's atty's are close @ 21mm. This is pretty nit picky but I don't care for his center post design.

I searched for the Kraken but wasn't able to find it in stock anywhere. Nimbus 9 Vape has it on pre-order and claims the next batch is slated for late October. While on that site I noticed the Prometheus. It's pretty similar in that it has air flow control though it's not as quick and easy as on the Kraken. Any ideas about the Prometheus?

If you do know of a site that sells the Kraken please let me know!
